How does the Mormon community react when one Mormon tells lies about another Mormon and brags of the lie's success.
Absolute and utter hogwash.
Harry Reid is among the most holy and devout of all Mormons.
What was the lie ???
If you are speaking about the Mormon Man of the Year Harry Reid and the Mormon Bishop Willard Mitt Romney there was no lie..
Harry Reid probably knew what Willard’s financial records contained because as Mormons they are required to give copies of their income and tax returns to the Mormon religion so that they can prove they are tithing enough and to continue to get a Mormon temple recommend..
without a temple recommend they cant go into their temple and thus into their afterlife when they die...
It was easy for Harry to find out..Willard probably knows what Harry paid in tithings too..Both harry and Willard are Mormon royalty..Willard because his family is a many generational Mormon polygamy one...and harry because he is the highest elected Mormon in the government...
Harry is more upset that Willard probably got a pass on paying all the required tithes than h is about Willard having those bank accounts in the Caymans...
but good to know for future dealings...
You don’t know much about Romney.
Regular ones just drive around with Irish Setters on their car roofs and bend over for Jack Mormons.
I can assure you. Having had 2 contractors that were proudly Mormon, they lie freely and frequently.
I didn’t know that it was okay to lie to gentiles.....that’s a first....
Something in common with Islam
Obviously totally wrong.
Reid is among the most devout Mormons, and his church decides on that question by personally looking into him every two years, and issuing him Temple membership if he is worthy of it.
While mormons remained silent at Reid's lies against Romney, the "mormon community" applauded Reid's nastiness against Christians at this BYU "devotional".
Reid also told reporters the Republican Party has been driven by evangelical Christians for 20 years. "They are the most anti-Christian people I can imagine, the people from the Christian far right."
Reid gets warm reception at BYU
Frankly, I believe that Mitt could buy and sell Harry if he chose to and I haven't seen any indication of his retort against Reid over the lies Reid spoke.
Ask Robert Millet. He is a self professed authority on this.
He regularly teaches at MTC(Missionary Training Center)
There is no answer - when we were Mormons, our bishop started lies about me because he was a control freak. I went to the Stake President, who claims the Bishop wouldn’t do that, so I sent it to Salt Lake, and they sent it back to our Stake President who ignored it. Our Bishop claimed that “Since I am the Father of the Ward, I know what’s best for your family better than YOU do”. Vicious circle, and nobody cared.
Wife then got a choice - them or me. 23 of us walked away - Us, kids, grandchildren - nobody cared.
Wow. That was actually deafening. ..
Just be glad you weren't a scientologist.
It would be a whole lot more helpful with some clear context ... namely a “story” of what happened. If you don’t want to name names, then give a fictional account, saying that this represents the true story, and you can leave out names that way.
Reid, formerly a devout Mormon, is on temporary assignment as a democrat politician. Therefore, Reid’s main loyalty now is to his party where lying, cheating, stealing, etc. is not only acceptable but preferred behavior. Until he completes his current assignment. Then I’m sure he’ll return to “devout Mormon” status.
I’m sorry they did that to you but glad you and your lovely family escaped...
but that was then..they care now...
The Morg has been bleeding for the last few years...closing missions and adding lots of girls and lowering the starting age and the qualifications and standadrs..
So it wasn’t a gym accident....
I see what you did there.
“Scum like Harry Reid are known as Jack Mormons in the Mormon community. In other words, Mormons in name only (MINO).”
I don’t believe that Reid is regarded as such. As someone else pointed out, Reid does “Home Teaching” in DC, so you have to believe he is regarded as a member in good standing. Although our names still are listed, my wife and I are (and have not been for some 50 years) active in the Mormon Church (and we don’t believe in it’s teachings either). We decided long ago that it was not worthwhile to have our names removed because it would cause family problems for both of us that are better avoided by doing nothing. Nevertheless, on rare occasion, someone shows up at our door to “see how we are doing.” It’s been more than a year since anyone stopped by, but maybe it’s because I told them the last time they were here, that as long as Reid as a member, they are not welcome to call. Their response was that the vast majority of “local Mormons” who do attend church could not understand why the church had not excommunicated Reid. When you gauge the level of decency of most Mormons, you’d be closer to the kind of people most of them are by looking at Romney. You might disagree with his politics (and we do ) but he’s a decent man.
FWIW, I see nearly all organized religions in pretty much the same light. When was the last time a Rabbi or a Priest ( or fill in the blank for your favorite flavor of clergy) came out and castigated or called for excommunication of the likes of Nancy Pelosi, or one of the large numbers of Jews who are actively engaged in helping Obola?
Now, I’m sure that the Mormon Hater’s here on FR will come out with their claws sharpened to take issue with what I’ve written.
Here's a post I wrote from June, 2011:
The word "prevarication" is often linked with Mormonism -- to the degree that the Lds apologetics org, FAIR, posted this lengthy article by Gregory L. Smith, MD: Polygamy, Prophets, and Prevarication (this is a pdf)
You can read it for yourself. I'll give you a quick paraphrased upshot as it pertained at least to concessions Gregory Smith made about prevarication & deception within Mormon history.
In the article, Gregory L Smith the Mormon apologist, concedes:
* Polygamy was lied about during Nauvoo years (Smith puts lying in quotations);
* Lying for the Lord has been taught & implied by some Mormons;
* Just because some Mormon leaders lied, he still contended any takeaways somebody might glean from that -- that it might somehow be construed as a condition tolerated w/in the Lds community when he felt it wasn't;
* Some Lds leaders, like George Q. Cannon of the First Presidency around the turn of the century, favored denying any specific charges about the practice of polygamy in Utah [Smith cited Michael Quinn "Authority and New Plural Marriages" as a source];
* He said the Manifesto sanctioned active misdirection;
* He said with the Church's destruction at stake, the manifesto "extended the degree of deception which was permissible" in order to keep that from happening. Therefore, 'twas Woodruff's duty to provide a formal doc which he knew to be false in some of its particulars. * Woodruff sought to maintain "plausible deniability." How did he do that? Well, while he'd refuse to personally approve a post-Manifesto polygamous marriage, he'd turn around & refer these potential polygamists to counselor George Q. Cannon for a recommend!
'Twas this kind of open deception that Mormon apologist Gregory L. Smith conceded to occur that has long stayed with the Lds reputation-wise.
If you click on any of the MANY sub-titles of that paper where the word "Lying" appears...you'll find all these comments Smith made.
Or Google the phrase "Lyin' for the Lord" and see how often that reference is used in association with Mormons. Read the Smoot hearing transcripts from the Senate in the early 20th century to see how even the Mormon "prophet" testified under oath before the Senate and blatantly lied -- even to the astonishment of fellow Mormons like Karl Badger, who was Sen. Smoot's Secretary.
Here, see some of Badger's quotes (post #24) and other links at this at this thread: Gospel Teachings About Lying-LDS (OPEN)
