Governor Mike Pence of Indiana seems to have caved into enormous pressure and will ask the state legislature for new legislation to make it clear that Christian florists and bakers could be forced to participate in weddings that violate their religious beliefs.
Last week, Indiana joined 19 other states and the federal government by enacting a law to protect religious believers from governmental encroachment on religious freedom. Such legislation was cited in the recent Supreme Court Hobby Lobby decision that determined religious employers could not be forced to supply abortion drugs to employees under ObamaCare.
In a packed press conference this morning, Pence did not give specifics about what the new legislation would say, only that he wants it to make clear that Indiana businesses will not be able to discriminate against anyone for any reason. He said the religion freedom bill he signed was never considered by him or the bills sponsors to allow a license to discriminate.
Such legislation has been read as supporting businesses and individuals not just to avoid supplying abortion drugs, but also allowing certain businesses to avoid serving gay weddings, usually bakers and photographers some who are now being run out of business for refusing to serve what they see as a religious ceremony that violates their own deeply held beliefs.
Pence and the state of Indiana absorbed a tsunami of protest from the main stream media, major corporations, athletes, movie stars and gay leaders after enacting the bill......
....Social conservatives, a base Pence would need if he tries to make it through the GOP primaries, were immediately upset.

Simply a bunch of words stating that Scott Walker is not going to fight for things that he thinks will keep him from being President.
Yeah. I use this comparison below. It does NOT give them the right to do number one, and only MAY give them the right to do number two:
1. Clearly “uniformed” NeoNazi’s walk into a jewish deli and order sandwiches. Owner refuses to sell them sandwiches.
2. “Normally dressed” men walk into a Jewish deli and ask to reserve its banquet room to have their annual Hitler remembrance event. Owner refuses to schedule their event.
In number one, the proprieter is discriminating because of who they are. Not allowed. In numer two, owner is discriminating because he refuses to participate in an ACTIVITY that is repugnant to him.
People don’t get this. It’s the core here.
He was toast the moment he began talking to the media about it.
You totally miss the point of effective leadership.
You either don’t know what Scott Walker has done, or you believe that by attacking him, by misrepresenting his positions and wins, that somehow that will help us beat the Left.
You are giving aid and comfort to the Left when you choose to do that.
There was nothing Pence could do about this other than not offering them this opportunity in the first place but that's history now.
The MSM/gay activist army put a bag over his head, spun him 'round and 'round, until he gave them their win and their talking points about evil conservatism.
This just solidifies my opinion that this country will NOT be fixed by elections.

Talk to a liberal activist and find out what they think of Walker.
You'll get things like "blind-sided" and "never saw it coming." That's because Walker doesn't telegraph his movements (he tells him his personal beliefs and they are rock solid conservative); he doesn't give the Left fodder so that they can rally their mob - the media, the "educators," the unions - he doesn't lead with his chin, he just leads.
The Lib Media does have him backtracking, explaining, apologizing, and revising.

Pence folded, but what else would we expect from a Republican? Republicans are just horrible at the game of politics.

This law is clear cut. The country was founded on religious freedom, it is in the Constitution, but now the media and the homostapo feel they have more rights than our founding fathers thought?
All Pence and republicans had to do was to tell them this and ask the crazed biased , rabid media do they not believe in the 1st amendment anymore and do they feel that Christians and people of religion should be persecuted now from the homosexuals.
If I don’t recognize your sham of a wedding then why should I be forced to go to your sham and take photographs?
Should Jewish bakers be forced to bake a cake fro a NAZI wedding and do a swastika on the cake?
Why the hell does the GOP not frigging raise these questions and throw it back into this corrupt media?

If the legislation was not meant to reaffirm that businesses can refuse service to anyone based on religious grounds then what was the point of the legislation? It seems that Pence is trying to turn the intent of the legislation on its head by saying that it mandates that businesses cannot refuse service to anyone for any reason. Tail wags dog. Civilized society takes another hit.
Walker doesn't - he may retreat to regroup when there is no way to win at the moment (doesn't poison the well while waiting for a more opportune time); he knows when we have the advantage and then is unmovable in his resolve.
The garbage on social media with this Indiana law is absolutely incredible. I literally cringe reading some of it. Stupidity seems to be de rigeur in society now.
Well, we can eliminate him from the 2016 line-up. We don't need another GOP coward in Washington. The place is already full of them.

No, Secton 1 of the 14th Amendment clearly prohibits the states from making laws which unreasonably abridge the constitutionally enumerated rights of citizens, 1st Amendment protected religious protection in this case.
14th Amendment, Section 1:All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States [emphasis added]; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
The bottom line is that its the responsibility of people with religious convictions to know their 14th Amendment protections regardless what legislation their state lawmakers make. And regardless that the Religious Freedom Law that Gov. Pence just signed is reasonably based on language in Section 1 of the 14th Amendment, I must now question if Pense has even read Section 1 regardless that he has sworn to protect and defend the Constitution.
