Question about Michael Brown leads to beating

When one man sat down next to a second man in a St. Louis light rail car and asked him his opinion on the shooting of Michael Brown, it was not the beginning of a discussion.

It was the start of an assault, police said.

The second man, who was white, didn't want to answer the question. Then the first man, who was black, boxed him in the face. Two more African-American men joined in the beating, according to a police report about Monday's incident.

It was caught on surveillance cameras on the MetroLink train and a passenger recorded it with a cell phone and posted the video online. It has gone viral.

Police confirmed to CNN that the online images came from the attack.

I'm surprised that this incident was even reported, usually black on white racial crimes just get buried. Here's the predicted media spin on this: the white victim was really the perpetrator here. By refusing to agree to his assailant's point of view about Michael Brown, he was oppressing them and guilty of a hate crime. Those who beat him were just exercising their right to racial-justice against an oppressor.

Chances are, you can find something very much like this stated in all seriousness.

Eric Holder says we are cowards about race and all that.

I would love to discuss why it is, that, as a group, black men are so violent. Of course not all black men are. But as a group, black men commit disproportionate amounts of crime and violence.

If Eric Holder wants to discuss that, I will be brave and not be a coward and discuss that aspect of race with him.

The article almost makes it sound like an otherwise intelligent conversation gone wrong. Anyone watching the video can tell these buffoons are just clowning around, looking for an excuse to open a can of whup-a$$ on a white guy. Substitute “thug” for “young man” and you’ve got a far more honest article.

Not only that, a black person is safer breaking down in a white neighborhood than being out at night in his own neighborhood. If "black lives matter," you'd think that their number one priority would be to stop killing one another. Or do they only matter when a white police officer pulls the trigger?

I am a person of a certain mixed heritage and had a buddy once in my last NG unit in Wash D.C. and the guy was a mixed mutt who was in the marines as an NCO ( Part black, white Italian, and Spanish), they guy could be a real dick sometimes but the one thing he said was do not let anyone tell you different but there are plenty of black bigots, they are not mentioned a lot though, and I did agree. I saw a good chunk of folks calling people cracker and the like. and other things, also I will admit I did my share of avoiding and walking around certain people and yeah that including dark skinned persons who looked like thugs, I do not call it safe hate I call it just being safe till I am proven otherwise.

I too would love to discuss with Eric Holder the fact that 12% of the population is responsible for about half of the violent felonies in this country. I'm sure that he'd have an answer along the lines of "white racism makes them turn to a life of crime" prepared.
