Amanda Knox Case: Italian Court Overturns Murder Conviction

The highest court in Italy on Friday has overturned the murder convictions of Amanda Knox and her ex-boyfriend in the sensational 2007 stabbing death of her British roommate.

The ruling was the latest turn in an odyssey of international justice for Knox, who spent four years in an Italian jail after the killing. She has returned to the United States and vowed not to return to Italy.

She and the ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were convicted in 2009, then acquitted and freed in 2011. An appeals court overturned the acquittals and ordered a new trial, and they were convicted again last year. Knox was sentenced in absentia to 25 years in prison. Sollecito was sentenced to 28 1/2 years.

Knox and Sollecito were arrested after the roommate, Meredith Kercher, was found dead in a pool of blood in their apartment in the university town of Perugia, as many as 40 knife wounds over her half-naked body.

Prosecutors argued that Kercher was killed as part of a sex game. Knox and Sollecito said they were alone together on the night in question, watching a movie, smoking pot and having sex.

Are you smoking crack? Ted Cruz is a smart man who can focus. He’s not some wannabe hippy who thinks murderers are just misunderstood.

The prosecutor was literally on a witch hunt. The guy is an occult obsessed loon.

Ted Cruz is a wonderful Christian man that would never vote to convict a innocent person.

He would never root for a innocent girl to be railroaded in Italy or anywhere

There is a ton of evidence she is not innocent. She lied about everything that happened that night. I doubt Ted Cruz would be distracted by emotion and misplaced jingoism.

So when/if you here that my guy Ted Cruz is thrilled with the decision, will you drop him?

BTW NY Post reports it this way.....

The judges declared that the two did not commit the crime, a stronger exoneration than merely finding that there wasn’t enough evidence to convict.

AND

Experts have said such a complete exoneration is unusual for the high court, which could have upheld the conviction or ordered a new trial as it did in 2013 when the case first came up to its review on appeal.

Wait, these are the same judges that you and every other pro-criminal dolt were bashing? So by your own words, these people shouldn’t be trusted.

So is she going to celebrate with dinner at an Italian restaurant?

(I’m glad she’s free)

The verdict's correct because the police bungled the case. That doesn't mean there isn't overwhelming evidence against her. There is. Her own repeatedly false testimony alone would be enough if the interviews had been conducted properly.

She's part Jodi Arias, part Rachel Jeantel. She needs to STFU, because she's the best witness the prosecution could possibly have, and her book tour isn't going to do her any favors.

Its not a backward and worthless country, its a wonderful country with friendly people, amazing scenery, amazing history.

Americans should be wary of slagging off any other legal system: OJ, Casey Anthony........just this week we have seen people released from prison after decades in the US for crimes they never committed.

Better OJ free than sitting here at the mercy of a government, run by crazed and political minded lawyers and judges, who can ruin your life and convict you just by trial and error. With my lawyer and a jury of my peers, I got a better chance at freedom than I do in Italy. Ask George Zimmerman. In Italy, he'd have been tried over and over again until they got him.

I DO also think that Italian politics and legal system is a joke, or at best very poor. BUT I still think most other Italian things are wonderful.

Wonderful day for Amanda Knox, but her total exoneration is not getting the proper respect from tv media, due to the over the top coverage of the plane crash.

The conviction of Guede was based on him being an accomplice with others. It was based on the fact that he could not have acted alone and did not act alone.

For one thing, the break-in was found to be staged, and Guede’s footprints lead right out the door. So, you have to ask yourself who cleaned up after him, who staged the crime scene after the murder, and who staged the break-in? (Glass was found on top of the ransacked things, so it was broken after the ransacking.) And who would have the motive to do all these things?

The only two other suspects are Knox and Sollecito.

From the beginning, Knox kept changing her story and lying, even implicating an innocent man. Knox’s own blood was found mixed with the victim’s blood in the bathroom and another bedroom. And DNA from Sollecito was found on the victim’s bra hook.

The notion that they’re innocent - not involved in any way - just does not add up:

Freepers usually act like you claim

And frequently

Because many are often ignorant of fact their decent political intuition notwithstanding

Since race baiting here is infrequent now what you describe is my main gripe about posters here

I myself am not up to speed on facts of this case So I can’t say much on guilt or innocence

“Just because she is from the U.S. and she killed a British person is not a conservative reason to support someone.”

There is no proof she killed anyone. You comment reeks of ignorance.
