WASHINGTON — U.S. Army Special Operations Command is pushing back against alarmist claims that an upcoming U.S. military exercise is a preparation for imposing martial law or subduing right-leaning groups and individuals.
Conspiracy theories about the exercise, known as JADE HELM 15, appeared online this week. Some commentators railing against the event referred to an online slide show allegedly created by USASOC, which outlined a special operations exercise slated to take place across multiple states, outside the confines of U.S. military bases. In the slide show, a map of the southwest region of the United States labels Texas and other territory as “hostile” or “insurgent pocket.” The document also refers to coordination with law enforcement agencies.
Army Lt. Col. Mark Lastoria, a USASOC spokesman, confirmed that there is an upcoming exercise called Jade Helm 15 which is scheduled to take place this summer at locations in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, California and Nevada. But he denied the event is preparation for some sort of military takeover.

what happens when one of these SOF guys gets identified, gets stupid, and gets whacked in a concealed carry state? I can think of nothing dumber than running around Texas or Florida doing this kind of training. For every operator undergoing training there’s going to be people looking to identify them. Freeze tag for the licensed carry crowd.

SF has been running a similar exercise in central NC since the 1960’s - it’s called “Robin Sage”.
Every civilian that signs up to play is going to have loads of fun.
All the states involved have a large military presence as far as bases, personnel, and training grounds. Makes sense to do it in these areas.
That being said, I am also confident that most of our soldiers would come down on the side of the people, not the government, if SHTF.
However, being ever vigilent is our duty. So we will keep an eye on things.

Interesting that the military received a lot of calls about the exercise. I infer that the concern is “out there” among the populace. Who can trust the people we now have in positions of authority?

The thing is are worrisome is that this is new in several ways. One is the size and scope of the exercise. The second is the focus on what they think the threat is: Meaning, white, patriotic Americans; TEA Party types. The third is the involvement with federal and local law enforcement. This seems to be an all out use of force exercise.
Given all the open carry folks in Texas, how would anyone know if they were SF?
Seals and 82nd are easy to spot, but the SF guys have probably been practising their Texas twang accents for the past six months, have appropriate facial hair for their age group in the area of operations, and have maxed out their impact cards on hand made boots and used 4WD pick-ups.

Uh, no. This is NOT Robin Sage. Not even close. RS is a much smaller, confined, and finite exercise.

Disagree. SEALs can and do easy integrate into any part of society. You wouldn’t know if you were engaged in business with one or standing next to one.
