Saudi deploys 100 fighter jets, 150,000 soldiers for anti-Houthi campaign.
Also from Al Arabiya:
UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan Deploy Warplanes Against Houthis
The UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan have deployed fighter jets to join the Saudi air force in the ongoing air campaign against Yemens Houthi rebels, Al Arabiya News Chanel reported.
The UAE has deployed 30 fighter jets, Bahrain 15, Kuwait 15, Qatar 10 and Jordan 6 warplanes, according to the news channel.
Pakistan and Egypt are also taking part in the military campaign, contribution with air and naval forces.
Al Arabiya said Egypt, Pakistan and Sudan have also expressed readiness to contribute ground troops against the Houthis.
It’s a perfect time to fund and let the Iranian intelligence loose. Obama and his cadre of cluelessness are petrified they won’t get deal out of Iran —> and Iran knows this. The whole world knows this.
And if Iran can close both the Straits of Hormuz AND the Bab el Mandeb, they can choke off the flow of oil from Kuwait, Saudi, the UAE and Iraq....
Ahh, “rifle envy”....
I doubt that “150,000 soldiers” number - they only have 233,000 active personnel.
Iran is headed for a thumping in Yemen.
Check out Global Fire Power site, and you will find some interesting data on the militaries involved here.
Iran is ranked 23rd in the world, Saudi Arabia 28th. The Saudis have pretty much double the air capability of Iran. Ditto Egypt. Even the little UAE has a comparable air force to Iran.
Iran’s higher ranking is due to the numbers of ground troops and land-based armaments.
Aside from numbers, one can surmise that the critical battle-readiness component gives an advantage to the Egypt-Saudi-UAE alliance over the Iranians, because of the more recent vintage of their mostly American implements.
Then there is Israel......Am I missing something here or isn’t this a monumental opportunity for the Iranians to screw up and bite off more than they can chew?
Air power will rule this war because Iran would have to go through Saudi Arabia or around by sea to get their land-based superiority in play. Going around by sea and they’ll meet up with US naval power.
To get the Houthis out will require some ground troops, but the Saudis and Egyptians seem determined to do what it takes. I see the Yemeni President back in Sanaa’ in a matter of months if not days or weeks.
-— They will nuke Israel as they capture Mecca. -—
There won’t be any Mecca
See Samson Option
Thanks gleeaikin.
What would be amusing is if the Arabs stop waiting around for the US and Israel to bomb Iran’s nuke facilities and decide to do it themselves.
In fact, maybe this is a live-fire exercise before they attempt to take out Iran’s nukes. Alternatively, it’s possible that this assemblage of air power has been put there on the pretext of propping up Yemen’s ruler, while the real intent is to prep for an attack on Iran’s nuke labs.
Gurkha’s, Russians, etc. There are a lot of unemployed soldiers available. My guess is that the Gurkha’s would be very affordable.
no, The Americentric view over rates American influence in what is a sorting out of inter Islam war. Obama is irrelevant
Recall if you will that Usama bin Ladin was forced to leave Saudi Arabia because he was just not welcome. The war in Yemen has been simmering ever since the Brits left way back there. For a time, there were both North and South Yemen reflecting the current split. The Usama types have joined with all sorts of malcontented radical fundamentalists all over. Iran is subverting that fact to achieve a completely separate agenda.
The Iranians have engaged on the side of the Yemani north Houthi and for the GCC -Oman +Jordan, that is intolerable. The Saudi Southern Flank must be protected and the enemy destroyed
Can I get back to you later????
And right across the water is little ole Djibouti with the largest American base in Africa including an F-15 fighter wing and drone base.

Pentagon loses track of $500 million in weapons, equipment given to Yemen
March 17, 2015
The Pentagon is unable to account for more than $500 million in U.S. military aid given to Yemen, amid fears that the weaponry, aircraft and equipment is at risk of being seized by Iranian-backed rebels or al-Qaeda, according to U.S. officials.
So once again multi million dollar supersonic jets dropping $100,000 bombs on empty huts in a mountainous 8th century backwater.
This will get very, very ugly.
I wouldn't count on that. Our Commander and Chief would be more likely to supply them with transportation.
Just wondering, has Obama read this news article yet?
If Mecca is the target, I wonder whether the Egyptians, just across the water, would be concerned.
This is a region wide-war and it won’t end well.
