Op-Ed: Ted Cruz doesn't stand a chance this time around
Digital Journal ^ | March 25, 2015 | Calvin Wolf

Posted on 03/25/2015 11:26:44 AM PDT by EveningStar

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is the first official major candidate for president. He won't win the GOP nomination, but winning in 2016 is likely not his game plan. He is playing the long game and will win through 2016 martyrdom...

[U]ltimately, Cruz may be hoping to galvanize support for his staunch brand of conservatism. He could be hoping that a mainstream Republican wins in 2016, dissatisfies conservatives with a milquetoast term that changes few or no Obama policies, and leaves the electorate hankering for a "true conservative" in 2020 or 2024. Or, perhaps more slyly, he could hope to split the Republicans in 2016 and cause a Democrat to win the White House, giving Republicans four more years of Obama-esque policies. By then, thoroughly sick of liberalism, all non-Democrats will be eager to vote for a libertarian like Cruz...

“I don’t know how Richard Nixon could have won. I don’t know anybody who voted for him!”

- The late film critic Pauline Kael’s reaction to Richard Nixon’s landslide victory over George McGovern.

I love posting this on these “elite’s opinions” threads.

The media still doesn’t seem to understand that WE THE PEOPLE get to decide who will become President, not them.

leaves the electorate hankering for a "true conservative" in 2020 or 2024

There is no 2020 or 2024. If we do not block Amnesty and Obamacare now, there sill not be enough of America left by then to be worth trying to save through the ballot box. I'm not sure it can be done even in 2016, but I'm certain it would be impossible any later.

Did anybody give Clinton a serious shot at the Presidency in March of 1991?

Is Texas a better base to run for President than Arkansas? Is any other likely candidate as intelligent as Ted Cruz; or as articulate; or as having demonstrated as good an ability to rise to the occasion, in a previous race?

This sort of article merely demonstrates the penchant of the clueless collectivist types, to follow their cloud-borne wish lists.

Well...if the DEMS & RINOS are allowed to get away with voter fraud and busing in illegals and welfare rats to vote against him as they have in the past 3 election cycles at least. Sure....he won’t stand a chance.

"What is this, the 10th such 'article' today?"

I have also noticed many articles with this theme. It seems we have an echo chamber forming.

Why does the media overanalyze everything?

It’s what they are paid to do, except when simply reporting the news. They always have to find *something* to analyze. It’s like talk radio. Every day you have to decide what issues are going to be discussed that day unless it’s “open line” day or “disagreement” day. It’s literally what they do.

I remember in the 20th century and I read newspapers. I’d glance at the headlines and then go straight to the op-ed pages.

This article does not claim to be unbiased. Just the opposite.

Op-Ed = Opinion-Editorial. Opinion = bias. Analysis = bias.

The left and liberal media are in panic mode.

Ted Cruz TV Speech declaring his Candidacy march 23 2015

George Will said of Cruz: “a candidate as good as it gets" .

A Harvard Law graduate whom professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz once described as “off-the-chart brilliant,” Cruz’s intelligence should never be underestimated.

God’s blessing has been on America from the very beginning of this nation and I believe God isn’t done with America yet. I believe in you. I believe in the power of millions of courageous conservatives rising up to reignite the promise of America. And that is why today, I am announcing that I am running for president of the United States.

"It is a time for truth. It is a time for liberty. It is a time to reclaim the constitution of the United States."

Now That Ted Cruz has Declared His Candidacy- You Ever Seen the Guy's Resume?

In their dreams ...

Take a good long look at where "Establishment Republicans" ALWAYS take us.

Re: “Ted Cruz doesn't stand a chance this time around”

The author is only half right.

Ted Cruz doesn't stand a chance in any presidential election - ever.

The electoral math does not lie.

In 2016, Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians will represent about 27% of voters.

In 2012, that group voted 82% for Obama.

Cruz will need to get at least 62% of the white vote to win the 2016 election.

Not likely to happen.

The last Republican to get more than 60% of the white vote was Ronald Reagan in his 1984 landslide reelection.

Only a stupid F head would do that. Cruz isn't a stupid F head.
