On Monday, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz taught the Republican Party a lesson it desperately needs to learn. Mr. Cruz taught the GOP something about winning.
The Republican Party, at least at the national level, is pretty pathetic. The Republicans have lost four of the last six presidential elections. Republicans have actually lost the popular vote in five of the last six presidential elections. Even the two races that George W. Bush won were close. The 2000 election was not decided until weeks after Election Day and even in 2004, Democrat John Kerry kept it close enough that he did not concede until the next day.
Ted Cruz broke the rules with his announcement. A Republican candidate is supposed to play the game. He is supposed to be not interested. Then there are leaks from family and friends encouraging him to run. Then the candidate finally sets up an exploratory committee. Finally, he does what everyone knew he was going to do months ago. He runs.
Ted Cruz broke the model. He didnt bother with an exploratory committee. He just ran. He went to Liberty University, the last place a Republican moderate would think about going. He made a speech that fit Ronald Reagans vision of a banner of bold colors, not pale pastels. He spoke for 45 minutes without a teleprompter.
By breaking the rules, Ted Cruz is showing the GOP something else.
He is the only candidate who can beat a Democrat in 2016....

Oh yes—all those ugly scandals from the 1990’s will resurface again, something she don’t want to deal with one more time. Trying to explain the mysterious deaths of Vince Foster and Ron Brown is going to cause no end of trouble.
“There are a lot more born-again Christians in states like Massachusetts and California than you might realize. If anything around 70% of the were to show up to the polls, Cruz would probably win those states as well.”
I read your comment and imagined a Ted Cruz landslide victory. I looked up at my wall and noticed my photo of the 1980 Olympic hockey wine over the Soviets.
I’m approaching 60. I’ve never wanted a candidate more to wine than Ted Cruz.
I like Walker
Walker/Cruz in 2016
I can’t stand Jeb Bush, the Huckster and the blimp Christie. Huckabee the Huckster’s job is to pave the way for Jeb Bush: mark my words.
BUMP!
The problem is that Walker doesn't have a DC voting record. How can we be totally sure he isn't a Chamber of Commerce guy?
Ted Cruz is the only person keeping a lot of DC folks who campaigned conservative in line.
That's the thing. And saying it's a moral imperative is putting it lightly.
Ted needs to continue to beat 0bama like a drum. And then call out Ditch.
It would be great if Walker would announce next and these two could eclipse anyone else.
Crispy, Jeb, and Huckster can piss up a rope.
Personally I would rather Cruz/Walker. Imagine Cruz sending out Walker to stir it up and then Cruz coming in for the kill.
Walker has plenty of street smarts after fighting the unions.
Scott walker has defeated democrats many times to pass conservative laws. Scott walker as governor defeated the democrats and the media to cut taxes, balance the budget , right to work laws etc. His record as governor is unmatched in history. Not even Reagan defeated democrats this many times
His record as governor is unmatched in history.
His immigration stand sounds fine, but it's a revision from his previous positions, which were more in line with business interests.
I think at this point Ted Cruz gave us a magnificent opportunity to focus on a conservative vision, and we should stand with him as the country learns to accept and respect his courage.
Great points! Thank You
Can you even imagine Hillary Clinton debating Ted Cruz? I dont care if Candy Crowley and her three sisters were the moderators!
The quadruplets Candy, Sugar, Chunky, and Creamy.
Nope, Cruz could make it “Open Google” and give Hillary an earpiece and still beat her. I’d pay $100 to see it.
None of those smears against Scott walker are true . but they are lies by the liberal media.
don’t listen to what the liberal media says about Walker nor any Republican.Look at Walkers record as governor . The laws he passed are conservative laws . he didn’t pass anything to help illegals etc. . Look at actions and the record
Amnesty for some-those who are for personal liberty and self reliance- may not be bad; After the border is shut for 10 to 20 years.
Cruz would beat H! like a drum, 24/7.....
The 5 million number doesn’t matter. He has grit, and he knows how to win. The objections to him in post 51 are more to the point, though.
In a Cruz v Walker debate, one would look like a strong man and the other a schmoo. Guess who.
He’s a great Governor and great guy, but still a small fish in a big pond. No wonder he’s getting all the MSM support: he doesn’t have big friends in high places, so he can totally be pushed around on the world stage.
But he IS great for WI, and I enjoy his victories.
