Enough Fighting: Time for Libertarians and Conservatives to Unite [retread zot]
Raging Against The Rhetoric ^ | 03-18-2015 | Jackie Wellfonder

Posted on 03/23/2015 7:54:24 AM PDT by Kaled

Conservatives often find themselves at odds with the libertarian crowd. However, is that anger really warranted?

As President Reagan once said, “If you analyze it, I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism.”

True conservatives and libertarians, let’s not pretend there aren’t fakers on both side, all agree on the fundamentals: limited government, personal responsibility, and economic freedom. Neither group wants the government interfering in our daily lives and telling us what we can and cannot do. Now there may be slight disagreements on how that plays out in the policy arena, but we should not allow that to stop us from working together.

Our primary focus needs to be on reigning in spending, and returning power to the states where it belongs. The government has overreached time after time with blatant disregard for the boundaries set forth in the constitution. It’s time for conservatives and libertarians to put aside our differences, and work together.

As Morton Blackwell, President of the Leadership Institute, says, “You owe it to your philosophy to study how to win. You have a moral obligation to learn how to win.”

When are we going to realize that what we are doing isn’t working? We are going to keep losing elections until we get this right, and America will pay the price.

Rand Paul inherited his Froot Loop followers.
And his general dorkiness.

Every conversation I have ever had with any LIEbertarian always comes down to one of seven things - or all seven:

1. Unrestrained unlimited drug use
2. Unrestrained unlimited access to sex
3. Unrestrained unlimited access to abortion
4. Moral relativism.
5. The individual is totally sovereign in all aspects
6. Undefined “marriage”
7. A hatred of religion

It may be summed up as the Law of the Jungle is their only guiding principle. They wish to live like animals, but expect that such behavior will create a “just and equal society” - They are basically utopians (aka Leftists).

What the libertarians mean when they say this is that they don't want their favorite vices to be outlawed.

Bingo!

“No-fault divorce” comes into that category also.

Sadly something my Hero brought upon us.

A libertarian is just a liberal that hasn’t embraced their inner control freak yet.

You forgot one important thing about libertarians.

They have eyebrow toupees (poorly) attached with spirit gum.

they were not his positions as a candidate or office holder.

He didn't campaign on them but they were his position and people knew that.

Cliven’s rant was Racist, it was honest.

Cruz/Paul ticket would slaughter the Dems. It’d be the biggest landslide since Mondale/Ferraro.

Start standing for smaller, more Constitutionally limited government and that’d cease to be an issue.

They weren’t his positions and nobody knew any such thing.

What were the inner thoughts on abortion and gay marriage of the 1964 presidential candidates?

Which is why most of those who ascribe to a more “Jeffersonian” philosophy do not necessarily associate with the LP.

Anyone who has been around FR for a while knows that there are plenty of so-called “Conservatives” who are really not comfortable with personal liberty.

fully behind Jeb Bush

IOW you're a diehard supporter of Ron Rand Paul.

I think he said he's an ardent fan of Jeb's big full behind.

It may be summed up as the Law of the Jungle is [libertarians'] only guiding principle.

Nonsense. Libertarians simply believe in prosecuting actual crime, when somebody's rights are actually infringed on, as opposed to manufacturing crimes with various nanny-state, Fourth Amendment-destroying contraband law, for instance.

And I know many, many libertarians who are staunchly pro-life and tough on crime.

Anybody who believes their brother belongs in prison for possessing the wrong plant, medicine, or liquid spirits, in the absence of actually committing a crime, is simply embracing authoritarianism, plain and simple.

Left-wing authoritarians and right-wing authoritarians would simply have us choose between alternate visions of Tyranny. I'll take neither.

I will vote for my cat first!

If your cat supports the 2nd Amendment, wants to repeal Obozocare, is willing to overturn Roe v. Wade, and is for limited government, let me know. He might get my vote as well.

stop trolling, conservatives are the against homosexual, all drugs being legal, incest, open borders, and reduced military.
We care about the country and not just ourselves.

nothing but a troll pushing their liberal-tarin agenda.
I have noticed just today that all the trolls posts are for liberaltarians.

Expect more of this as the Paul bots only care about taking over the conservative movement and getting on websites like this or using our conventions, platforms etc because if they used their own they would never get a voice at all.
