Now that its been confirmed that Ted Cruz is running for president, its time for everyone to weigh in, and Scott Walker was one of the first to be asked about the announcement on Fox News. Walker was very gracious to Ted Cruz, while jabbing at Jeb Bush yet again by saying we need a fresh face to combat Hillarys haggard decrepit visage.
Watch.. [comments start at 6 minute mark] [full interview with Fox runs around 8:00]
While Cruz will almost certainly get a bump for being the first candidate to declare his campaign, Walker is still ahead in the polls. Will he catch up to the Governor? Stay tuned!

My guess is the first order of business for Ted, Rand and Scott is knocking Jebbie off then they will duke it out between themselves for the nomination after that.

I didn’t know Cruz was a lawyer.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve known one or two good lawyers in my time. But in general I think there are too many of them in politics.
Being a lawyer is not a deal breaker, but it is a small, red flag.

Have you read Dershowitz on Cruz? Don't let Cruz's JD worry you; he's a Constitution-loving attorney.

No, and I wouldn’t really refuse to vote for Cruz just because of his JD. My father was a lawyer as is my brother.
I am ready for a change, but I would be glad to pull the lever for Cruz (so far) if he’s the best at primary time.
Still ... another lawyer? At least he’s not from Harvard.

All those qualifications pale in comparison with Cruz’s ability and skill at giving speeches & in debates with opponents. Hillary will squirm in her pant suit facing Cruz in presidential debates. She is likely to call debates off.
However, I am holding my monetary support to any candidate until the SC primary is over. AT that point I will support whichever candidate is polling best excepting jeb Bush.

He's very appreciative of the foundation laid by the forefathers. A while back, I read a piece about his father's views of America. The gist of it was that his father, having come from Cuba, has a profound appreciation and deep love for America, the America our forefathers envisioned. That appreciation and love for Country was definitely handed down to his son. Ted Cruz is the real deal. As I read the article, I was immediately reminded of my grandmother who immigrated from Italy. It's sad but true that after a few generations, Americans take for granted what we have here. Ted isn't that far removed from the lessons of his father.

That’s good to hear.
Someone earlier said he had a deep respect for the Constitution. That’s a lawyerly attitude and a good one as far as it goes. But the Constitution is only good because of the principles it embodies. Trying to codify all of the principles into law gums up the works. Trying to ensure a culture that values those principles so codification in law isn’t necessary is a far better way to go.
I don’t mean to say that Cruz WOULD think in terms of legislation. I just mean to say that I want the kind of leader who thinks in terms of the deeper cultural tools we have at our disposal.
Would a non Harvard grad (non grad), non lawyer like Walker do better than Cruz? I don’t know. We have many months to find out.

?But the Constitution is only good because of the principles it embodies.Yes, foremost of those principles, however, is the sole legal basis for the Federal Government. Absent respect for the compact, there is no legal federal government--only rule by intimidation & fear.

Me:
This is equivalent to running to the right. You: What is?
Well, either you are stupid or you are fishing. If you are stupid, then you are unqualified to be advocating your preferences to the degree you do. If you are fishing, then you prefer Walker to Ted Cruz.
Which one is it CW? It's not as if you haven't supported Republican nomination of an advocate of unsustainable rates of Latino immigration before (yes, I am "Perrying" your reply in advance).
Just in case you are stupid, then I'll explain it: Walker differentiating himself from Bush as opposed to Cruz places him in a position to attract Cruz' natural constituency, which is to the right of Walker's historic positions. Therefore, this is a "running to the right" move on his part.
Got it? I knew you did. You see, I know you're not stupid, just arrogant enough to have taken the bait. Oh I know how horrible you think that was, but unlike you, I'm wise enough to know how much damage a "pathway to citizenship" for illegal aliens would do to what is left of our Constitutional Republic. So I looked hard at the sources of support behind Walker's prospects. I suggest you do the same before falling for a media campaign. If you don't, we'll know who you really are.
