NASA's Administrator Charles Bolden acknowledged Wednesday there is no back-up plan to fly the International Space Station if Russia cuts off U.S. access to space.
"We would make an orderly evacuation," Bolden said during a U.S. House Appropriations subcommittee hearing. Because both countries are dependent upon one another, the $140 billion station would be lost.

WOW! Did he just find out on the news? I could have told him that on 7/21/2011 at wheel stop. But the more important mission is of course reaching out to those many, many muslim contributors and being more inclusive of all they brought to the table. Not saying there weren't any engineers from some of the ME countries, but leading the way? Uh, no. Maybe this genius can find something else to do like his fellow genius mark kelley-giffords.

Then again, without having to spend money on the ISS, that would mean more money would be available for Muslim outreach. Huzzah!

We spend three times the cost of the space station each year...
On welfare...

To not be sick of it, I want real dollars spent on budgets that were for such crap. What % of the NASA budget.

Because both countries are dependent upon one another, the $140 billion station would be lost.A) We are NOT dependent on Russia. We can restart the program at any time and build our own damn useless space station.
B) What is Russia dependent on us for?

I bet there would be a buyer at the right price. First orbiting hotel and it would probably be profitable.

Im so SICK OF THAT JOKE A joke? Perhaps. Sharp sarcasm aimed at a truism within this regime? Definitely. And it should be repeated as often as NASA is in the spotlight.
We must pummel this marxist/Islamofacists regime with all of our tools.

Ummm ... this is kind of a “no-brainer” ... LOL ...
OF COURSE there won’t be any space station if the two main partners who are dependent upon each other quits being partners. That’s kind of a “DUH!” ... :-) ...

We don’t have a rocket capable of sending a man into space. Kind of hard to build a space station if you can’t get into space.
Thanks to Obama.

NASA can still accomplish the all important goal of Muslim outreach without the station.

I realize that but somebody must know where the plans are to build another one.
The author of the piece makes it sound like it's some sort of natural state of being that can't be altered.

Agreed.
Muslim outreach is idiotic but its just a tiny thing and I doubt any of us know how much money is spent on it to do what.
I’m not so sure the loss of the space station is such a bad thing. Its become a pacifier that prevents us from moving on. Losing it may be what is needed to help force NASA back onto their intended pathfinding and prospecting role.
For that matter, private interests might like to have the space station for their own reasons.
