The cop said several times, “Get off my gun, get off my gun....” Still, that’s where your taser comes in.
Guy in crowd saying the black cop killed him - 2:45 on the vid.
Barely.
Isn’t a fat person more skinny than a “skinny” person?
Appears to me the man was being defensive and resisting, and flailing about, but not attacking.
Did you know what drugs he was on?
I guess if he was only drunk or high on pot he would only received an ass beating instead of shot several times?
Did you see him grab for one of the officers guns?
No, I did not see him grab for an officers gun and you also don't know whether or not he was grabbing for an officers gun. But pay attention to the number of timing and shots. After the first shot, they made sure he was dead at point blank range.
Please let us know exactly what you would do in that situation.
There are many ways this could have been handled differently... one would be for cops to take the time to evaluate and act less confrontational, but it doesn't really matter now does it.
The man may have been a homeless drunk , a crack head or whatever, but he was not an animal. What I saw is the cops overeacting and putting this guy down like a dog. We dont have police officers anymore...we have enforcers.
Im constantly amazed though on FR people who post non-stop about the usurpation of our Constitutional rights never see the overreach by police as a threat. If those controlled by the Constitution can do no wrong, why do we need it?
(1) I can assure you that not one of those police officers wanted to have to deal with the homeless. They certainly have no desire to touch them or put them in their cars (most probably don’t smell so good.). They are told to be there by their higher ups.
(2) The man attacked the officers. Did you miss that part of the video? Attacking the officers was not his constitutional right.
(3) Did he go for a gun? We don’t know for sure but the police there certainly seemed to think so. I believe we should wait on the facts before attacking the officers.
(4) Like the guy in the video that kept say, FU, FU, etc., if you can do better than the police officers we have, have at it. It’s not a job I would want but if you can do better, go for it.
The video starts after whatever prompted the cops to surround the guy, so I have no run up ... but I can hear, AFTER 4 cops have a flailing man down (obviously not in agreement to an arrest ) .. someone in the crowd say, "get his gun" a few times
The video, unfortunately does not show a lot of the man down but a cop is clearly seen pulling on him and the cop is standing up moving away from the guy he shot .... indicating his weapon was not threatened and it didn't look like HE was threatened, because he backed up shooting while two or three other cops flailed with the guy shot
It doesn't look good for the cops
The cops job is to manage and control the homeless, that has always been a primary duty of the cops.

It appeared the man swung at the officers. I would consider that attacking. Also, can you confirm that he didn’t have a gun or reach for the gun of one of the officers?

Good thing you confirmed it wasn’t bath salts, spice, or anything like that.

I couldn’t tell what was happening from that video and neither could you.

I personally don’t know why they didn’t taser the man. With that many police officers on the scene, it seems like that would have at least had a taser.
That all said, I don’t know enough about the situation to condemn all cops. And it could be that JUST ONE OF THEM OVERREACTED. The others could have been shocked by the action taken by the ONE officer. That doesn’t mean to me that all of them are bad cops. There just isn’t enough information in this video for me to condemn anyone at this point but a lot of questions will need to be asked.
I’ll add that I know there are many corrupt police officers but I also know there are a lot of good ones too.

That’s a sh##y job. A lot of the homeless are churned in and out of our jails by the judges and lawyers. And a lot of them are mentally ill and shouldn’t be on the streets.
What did other witnesses see? Is there a video from the opposite side? A steady video would help too.
“I didnt see any execution. There was quit a struggle going on and he may have grabbed at the officers weapon or he may have had a weapon, its hard to tell.”
That sure is a lot of “mays” to shoot someone. We may not want to build a society where people get killed for what the police think they may be doing.
Your statement means nothing, you evidently don’t want the job, but these cops clearly do want the job, it is what they applied for and were hired to do.
What other jobs are you going to tell us about, plumbers, waitresses?
A friend of mine went on a ride-along with an LAPD officer last year. The office described his job title as being a social worker with a badge and a gun.
LOL
” ... but these cops clearly do want the job, .... “
I’ve known people to get into law enforcement because they couldn’t get other jobs. It wasn’t what they really wanted to do but it was a job. Most certainly don’t get into it for the pay.
I can tell you about a lot of jobs. Plumbing .... s#$t flows downhill and payday is on Friday. Waitresses? Well I was a waiter in college for a few years so I know a little about that too. We disagree on something .... not that big deal to me.
No, not always.
Not too long ago, the mentally illwere locked for their own, and oupr safety. Sadly, during thev60s, people became concerned that they were locked up and insisted that ehybbe set fre.
So they were.
Too many mentallynill live on thevstreets as homeless.
Returning military, who are the main source of the LAPLd’s hiring DO NOT join the police department to take care of them.
That is just a lie!
You have posted a lot of nonsense on this thread, and that was just more of it.
Cops don’t become cops because they don’t want to, but are desperate for work because they are incapable of finding other work.
You are just posting nonsense on this thread.
Sorry about my iPad typing and spell check .... Sigh.
..... All we will hear and all that will be reported now ...... and untll election day in 2016 is what happened to a homeless man on this date in L.A.. The fate of the world is now sealed. Racial discrimination and Black lives are all that matters. The death of America and the destruction of the stability of the world .... does not.
