The America that I love has been changing, but it wasnt until Feb. 26 that I was struck with the realization that I dont recognize my country anymore. That was the day three FCC commissioners, without revealing the regulations or taking public comment, decided to take regulatory control of the internet.

Love Anton.....I think when people see their new big screen TV’s start buffering due to bandwidth restrictions from some providers and the kids/gamers can’t play “real time” and Netflix can’t distribute, then you’ll see the people begin to understand.
Spend a little time at the box stores and watch the number of 60” plus TV’s being returned. They can’t get the picture quality at home they saw in the store. Bandwidth from cable suppliers. Same issue.
Oh my, a troll out of my past ... LOL ...
Yes. People seem to have little understanding of very recent history, much less the deeper ranges. It's like they are asleep.
Here’s something that I’m trusting WILL CHANGE as a result of this. I’ll just give you the example from my own personal details, so you know what I’m talking about.
I currently pay for 150 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up for Internet service at $100 a month. And I get Netflix, and they currently pay for their Internet service (both speed and capacity) for all the customers they are streaming to. I can’t tell you their cost on that, because I’m not privy to it. I would imagine that they’re paying one heck of a bill, but that’s their business and they DO HAVE TO pay for the service to have each of their customers access it at the right speed and for the capacity to serve all their customers.
So far, so good. That’s the way it’s supposed to be. I pay for my access at whatever level I want and need (some pay a lot less for less capacity and speed, but that’s their choice). And Netflix pays for their service and what they need.
Each of us pay for increasing levels of service at an increasing price ... which again ... is the way it should be and the way it is.
AND ... I will note that my 100 Mbps down is WAY OVER NECESSARY SPEED AND CAPACITY to get the Netflix movies. One only needs about 15 Mbps down to do that at HIGH RESOLUTION and it will work fine. I have IN EXCESS ... about 135 Mbps ... that is just idle and available if necessary!
NOW ... here is what I am confident will be DECLARED ILLEGAL by this action at the FCC. It is the “THIRD CHARGE” being levied, in which a telecommunications company attempts to “hold their customers hostage” to force Netflix to PAY THEM MORE, or elese their own customers at that telecommunications company won’t get the service, even when they have PAID FULLY FOR THE SERVICE!
This is what Comcast did with Netflix in which they made it so that their OWN CUSTOMERS could not get Netflix without having problems. It didn’t matter if the customer PAID FULLY for 150 Mbps down for a 15 Mbps movie, Comcast THROTTLED IT to make sure that their own customers at Comcast would COMPLAIN TO NETFLIX!!
SO ... what Netflix ended up being EXTORTED TO DO by Comcast is paying several millions of dollars to get a “special deal” in which Comcast would take off the THROTTLING of their own customers (never mind they paid fully for the full capacity of their own accounts) and they created a SPEED LANE for Netflix.
The day after Netflix PAYS THE EXTORTION all the customers of Comcast got their movies without any problem ... LOL ...
NOW ... “THAT” is what will be ILLEGAL ... namely those THIRD CHARGES (beyond what Netflix already paid for full access and speed and beyond what the customer paid for full access and speed) ... and it will make THROTTLING ILLEGAL and it will make SPEED LANES ILLEGAL!
And for that, I say ... Good for them! ... :-) ...
That's how a telecommunications company can EXTORT money, using their OWN CUSTONERS as hostages, even though those customers have paid fully for a service that exceeds this speed and capacity, by THROTTLING and then creating a SPEED LANE!
The following is what I trust and hope WILL CHANGE as a result of making THROTTLING ILLEGAL, along with FAST LANES and also illegal to HOLD YOUR OWN CUSTOMERS HOSTAGE!

Johnnys in the basement
Mixing up the medicine
Im on the pavement
Thinking about the government
The man in the trench coat
Badge out, laid off
Says hes got a bad cough
Wants to get it paid off
Look out kid
Its somethin you did
God knows when
But youre doin it again
You better duck down the alley way
Lookin for a new friend
The man in the coon-skin cap
By the big pen
Wants eleven dollar bills
You only got ten
Maggie comes fleet foot
Face full of black soot
Talkin that the heat put
Plants in the bed but
The phones tapped anyway
Maggie says that many say
They must bust in early May
Orders from the D.A.
Look out kid
Dont matter what you did
Walk on your tiptoes
Dont try No-Doz
Better stay away from those
That carry around a fire hose
Keep a clean nose
Watch the plain clothes
You dont need a weatherman
To know which way the wind blows
Ahhh ... so you’re a Bob Dylan fan, eh? ... :-) ...
And even worse...
They are building a country...illegal immigrants included.
I stopped recognizing my country nearly a decade ago. At a time when even the voices here on FR still proudly proclaimed, “It can’t happen in America.”
Well...it did happen here and it will continue to happen. No one will stop it. Truthfully, no one can stop it. We’re way past the point of no return.
So, to the consternation of many, the question becomes to we force them to rush to reveal their plans or do we continue this slow, agonizing, frustrating de-evolution into tyrannical despair?
My thoughts are we should force their hand, but few have found the libertine courage for that just yet. But it is important to understand the their revolution needs violence to complete its implementation. History tells us it always does and it matters not, where that violence comes from. Fear, terror, racism, lies, and presents like the pedophile grooms his victim, so to does the left groom the nation.
The only recognition I have these days is one as a victim of the government.
“How about when armed park service police kept frightened tourists confined inside Yellowstone Lodge so they couldnt go outside and look at the scenery and armed NPS thugs blocked a child from getting up beside the statue of Lincoln in that open air monument?”
The purpose of the armed NPS is not national parks. The armed NPS is a state-sponsored terrrorist organization. The job of the fat jellyfish in armed NPS is to terrorize women, children and the elderly. Period. They did the job they were created for.
The goal of the Left has always been to destroy America from within and illegal immigration is key to the downfall. If Obama grants full amnesty then the transformation will be complete. America will have finally and fully become an un-assimilated boardinghouse for The Third World.
It never occurred to me before, but this is probably the first rap song.
In Don’t Look Back, Dylan holds up the sign that says SUCK-cess and the audience erupts. 1967.
We have been too successful. Our Constitution and our capitalism and ethic of hard work have worked too well. Now we are besieged by envious terrorists and eager freeloaders.
Maybe we should have toned it down. Kept it just among ourselves. Not told the world how great we are.
Just a thought.
Everyone should remember that the radical murdering branch of SDS, The Weathermen, took their name from these lyrics.
Dylan was apolitical, and has said that in that era he liked Goldwater more than anyone.
see post 76.
It was hard not to be washed in Bob when you came of age in the mid 60s.
He was on every Juke box with Highway 66 Revisited.
Man who led Bob Dylan to Christ says legendary singer is still walking with Jesus

Brooklyn-born Messianic Jew Al Kasha, 75, the double Oscar winning songwriter who in 1978 prayed with Bob Dylan at a Bible study in his Beverly Hills home to receive Christ, believes that Dylan never lost his faith despite many rumors to the contrary.
Bob Dylan made a well-publicized conversion to Christianity, went through a discipleship course at a Southern California Calvary Chapel, and produced three strongly Christian albums, Slow Train Coming written in Kashas home Saved and Shot of Love.
However, when a fourth Christian album failed to materialize in 1983, a rumor was circulated that Dylan had renounced his faith.
His new album, Tempest, is replete with Christian lyrics, as Kasha notes: I am absolutely thrilled that Bob has shown through this new record that he has never lost Gods calling in life, he said. Hes never given up.
I get upset when people think that he has because you dont write all these songs just out there. It takes time to write them and theyre all about Christ so Ive said this in the past the media has hurt rather than helped him.
Kasha went on to say, I have known Dylan since 1960 when I was at Columbia as their youngest-ever record producer and they were going to drop him from the label as his first CD only sold 7,000 copies.
I was 22 years old and they had all of these great artists like Rosemary Clooney, Guy Mitchell as well as Johnny Mathis and Tony Bennett, and when I heard this in a meeting, I stood up and, with my legs shaking, and told all of these veteran record producers, We cant drop him. Hes a great song writer and they finally agreed and now the rest is history.
Despite all of his success, having won two Oscars for the theme songs from The Poseidon Adventure (The Morning After) and The Towering Inferno (We May Never Love Like This Again), (both with Joel Hirschhorn), he had a secret that was destroying his life he was suffering from agoraphobia.
He told me that it was destroying his life, but then one night, in the bedroom which he woulndt leave, he tuned into a late Christian TV show and realized that Jesus was indeed his Messiah. He prayed in his room and gave his life over to Christ and was healed of his agoraphobia.
There are people on this forum who believe that government is the answer.
Amazing.
They are willing to surrender the implicit free speech available for the cold comfort of a movie that streams a little better.
His first LP.
I was at a friend’s house in the mid-1960s and someone brought in three of Dylan’s albums. Dylan was not popular yet and none of us had heard him. He started playing them and everyone was mesmerized.
Then he said, “I’m not sure whether I like this guy or not.”
Me: “I’ll buy them from you if you don’t want them.”
