Leonard Nimoy, the sonorous, gaunt-faced actor who won a worshipful global following as Mr. Spock, the resolutely logical human-alien first officer of the Starship Enterprise in the television and movie juggernaut Star Trek, died on Friday morning at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles. He was 83.
His wife, Susan Bay Nimoy, confirmed his death, saying the cause was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Judith Light’s character should’ve seduced Junior to show “Who’s the Boss.” (See what I did there ?) I wasn’t really all that crazy for the young women on the show. Emma Bell wasn’t appealing to me, she was too “mental” and meh blonde in the looks department. Jordana Brewster was more my type ethnically, but the thin lips and big forehead (and being a bit too skeletal) was a bit of a turn-off. Julie Gonzalo should’ve been the hottest, and she vaguely resembled Denise Richards, but it always appeared like she lost a boxing match with a messed-up nose and scar between her eyebrows (which I found too distracting).
The daytime soaps have hotter actresses (The Bold & The Beautiful’s Jacqueline MacInnes Wood or GH’s Kelly Thiebaud as examples) and should’ve mined them.
It's true that a brief throwaway line (that they were too lazy to add into the script once they cast Cumberbatch) would have explained why he looks completely different. However, even the plastic surgery explanation (which works because I'm assuming 23rd century plastic surgery is far more advanced than modern day) doesn't account for the personality difference.
Cumberbatch and Montalbaun were both willing to trample anyone who got in their way in order to preserve their crew, but otherwise they were completely different villains. Cumberbatch was supposed to be "Khan" from the Space Seed TV episode, and that Khan was exotic, suave, charming, and seductive. A key point in the episode was he convinced Enterprise crew members to defect and join his side, and seduced the ship's historian into becoming his lover.
Cumberbatch's "Khan" was just a cold icy psychopath/terrorist hellbent on revenge against Marcus. Basically the writers wanted to cash in on the name "Khan" without being faithful to the character or having a storyline that fit with his background. They even admitted they turned Harrison into "Khan" AFTER they had completed the story, and retroactively tried to make "Khan" fit into a story about a Starfleet officer turned terrorist.
If they were insistent on recycling a classic villain, they could have used one that actually fit such a storyline. If Cumberbatch had revealed his true identity as either Captain Garth of Izar or Dr. Tolian Soran, it would have fit the type of story and actor they went using (white, British accented psychopath who is "better than Kirk at everything" and hellbent on getting revenge against Starfleet in the mid 23rd century)
But they went for "Khan" simply because he was the best known Trek villain, which would sort of like casting Samuel L. Jackson to play an inner city Los Angeles gang leader codenamed "Eddie Smith" in a Bond movie and then revealing his true identity to be "Auric Goldfinger" after Bond captures him.
Epic fail.
I knew the Faux Treks were an epic fail right out of the chute, especially from the scene where Kirk’s mother was on a starship going into labor (presumably, James T. Kirk’s older brother would’ve been present there as a toddler or upwards of 5 years old — and none of that would’ve occurred in real Trek, as it was revealed they didn’t put families on starships until TNG, which partly accounted for Picard’s level of discomfort early on at having children aboard his ship). Hence, Abrams changed the canon right from the start, nevermind the “altered universe” his defenders claim.
If I were to sit down and list all of the problems/inconsistencies/anachronisms and the like for those two films, I could probably fill a book. Better writing and some basic knowledge of Trek history could’ve improved the situation dramatically, but all Abrams wanted was effectively a shoot-em-up with lens flare and virtual child actors playing iconic grown-up characters whom inspired millions of people. I found none of these “reboots” to be inspiring in the least. They were poorly-drawn caricatures with poorly-chosen actors.
Heaven forbid they could’ve set the Faux Trek films say 100 years after TNG/Voyager/DS9 (in the early 25th century) with a new set of actors and characters aboard an Enterprise-H off exploring, say, the Andromeda Galaxy (encountering, for example, the Kelvans in their original form that only current special effects could portray). So much for that notion.
Totally lame.

OMG Mega LOL!
I enjoyed the first one even though it had serious problems.
But “Into Darkness”? Pretty crappy. Best thing about it was Alice Eve in her blue bra.
I forgot all about Kirk’s older brother (corpse played by Shatner, lol). Abrams changed Chekov’s age too.
100 years after Voyager would the mid to late 25th Century, yes?
I’d love a series set in the Mirror Universe all about rebuilding the EMPIRE, *itch!!! No pansy *** Federation. ;p Have it on Showtime with full green space babe frontal nudity.
I call it “Into Dorkness”, but I digress... Alice Eve’s brief flash couldn’t save it (plus, wouldn’t you think undergarments of that era would look different than something you’d find in a K-Mart today ?).
Yes, I stand corrected on the time. I was thinking years, not century (it’s getting late in the evening). TNG started out in the 2360s and would be chronologically (from 1987) in the 2390s now. Set a new series around 2501.
Mirror Universe is interesting, but they mucked it up on “Enterprise” with making Hoshi an Empress. They cast the wrong Park in the role in my estimation, it should’ve been Grace instead of Linda. Linda is meh, Grace is stunning.
Who’s the girl?

I forgot he did his voice for Spock action figure what happen Sheldon accidently broken his action figure and leave to Nimoy to have sense of humor on that LOL!
BTW that episode was on Friday on KCOP that episode
Be honest I watch Dallas remake when Larry Hagman after Larry died
I lost “interest” in the show
It almost same thing when Jerry Orbach left Law and Order mothership later on he died off screen I lost interest in Law and Order mothership
I don’t see how much underwear could change much in general appearance. Force field microdots that hold the breasts in place? That would be nice. ;D
I was never blown away by Grace Park, Trica Helfer OTOH.....
Though they were somewhat cartoonish I love the ENT Mirror Universe episodes. Easily among the best in the series.
DS9 really ruined it by having the Empire fall, but that could be the basis of a lot of story potential.
At least Hoshi had something to do in those episodes. You’d think in an earlier time period with worse communication that a comm officer would have MORE to do than Uhura, but no. And the Black helmsman Mayweather may as well have been an extra.
Pity it was canceled just as it was finally showing promise in the 4th season. That show was horribly horribly bungled, starting with the atrocious theme song (the lovely end credits theme was supposed to play over the opening credits but they changed it “because of 9/11” or some similarly nonsensical reason, clowns).

I quit watching “Law & Order” right about the time Michael Moriarty was fired for publicly confronting Janet Reno as a psychopathic Nazi. If a Dem actor had criticized a GOP AG as such, they’d have gotten a promotion and film deals.
Forcefield microdots actually sounds about right (or perhaps something built into the uniform itself). IIRC, the underwear wasn’t flattering below, it made Alice Eve look like she was packing a cucumber or some such.
I’m a bit biased towards Asian or Eurasian females, so... I remember a horndog I knew online made the statement he didn’t find Asian women attractive at all. He knew my former and couldn’t fathom why I was so interested in her. He preferred Swedish females.
Yeah, ole Mayweather. He played it straight down the line like a professional type. I couldn’t fault him for that, though he did lack for a distinct personality. There was no way he could do a caricature/buffoon type for laughs (the nice thing about Star Trek was a future where Blacks left the ghetto ‘tude hundreds of years in the past and were finally and fully assimilated).
I actually didn’t mind the ENT theme song, it was a nice change of pace.
I actually never got into Enterprise. I only watched the pilot, but my interest fell off soon after. Voyager had so thoroughly burned me that it was hard to invest in new TV Star Trek for a while.
I remember seeing that at the movies and getting misty eyed.
Shaner gets lampooned for his acting, but they way his voice cracks when he says “human” in his eulogy of Spock was perfect.
I quit watching it when the storylines became implausible and the political bias was too obvious.
