Sen. Ted Cruz: Top Priority to ‘Abolish the IRS’

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Oxon Hill, Md., on Feb. 26, 2015. Cruz was questioned by Fox television personality Sean Hannity. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said among his top five priorities for the United States is to “abolish the IRS” at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Oxon Hill, Md., on Thursday.

Sean Hannity of Fox News asked Cruz what his top five agenda items are for the country.

“Number one,” said Cruz. “Repeal every blasted word of Obamacare.”

“Number two, abolish the IRS, take all 125,000 IRS agents and put them on our southern border,” said the senator.

“Number three, stop the out of control regulators at the EPA and the alphabet soup of Washington.

Number four, defend our constitutional rights - all of them, and

number five, restore America’s leadership in the world as a shining city on a hill.”

Hannity also asked Cruz to say the first words that came to his mind when he mentioned some names.

“Hillary Clinton,” Hannity said.

“Washington,” replied Cruz.

“Bill Clinton,” Hannity said.

“Youth outreach,” Cruz joked.

“Barack Hussein Obama,” Hannity said.

“Lawless Imperator,” said Cruz.

I dearly admire, am impressed with and support Ted Cruz. I'm impressed with the accomplishments of Scott Walker, and Ben Carson. Tonight, Thursday the 26th, I listened to a podcast of Mark Levin's show, www.marklevinshow.com, and heard all three of these men speaking to the CPAC. As Mark said, would it not be wonderful if one of these men won the nomination. I highly suggest you listen to this podcast. These men give me hope. Listen in..you won't be disappointed.

The following is why Cruz is right about the IRS. One agency always among the first to be taken over by communists, fascists and other dictators is the secret police. The IRS has 'secret police' power in the USA.

Despite IRS Commissioner John Koskinen repeatedly saying under oath in previous hearings that Lerner's emails could not be recovered, Camus and investigators have been successful in recovering nearly 33,000 emails relevant to the IRS investigation.

"To date we have found 32,774 unique e-mails that were backed up from Lois Lerner's e-mail box. We are in the process of comparing these e-mails to what the IRS has already produced to Congress to determine if we did in fact recover any new emails. We are also in the process of having the e-mail server hard drives analyzed if there are any readable e-mails that can be recovered from these hard drives. And finally, we are continuing to determine if there are any other sources that may contain Lois Lerner's e-mails," Camus said during testimony.

“The IRS was apparently given instruction to do whatever necessary to silence those who spoke out against the Obama Administration. It became a West Wing weapon of choice. Let me explain something o you. The GOP was the party of big government 100 years ago. Then the income tax was passed and it suddenly became the part of smaller government. Do you not see a connection? Thirty years ago I never heard of a “big government conservative”. Now that their taxes are lowered we see it becoming very common especially among the C of C wing of the party. It goes to show that if they don't pay for it they will spend us into oblivion. Got it?

The following is why Cruz is right about the IRS.

I don't disagree, so come up with a realistic plan to replace it. Saying you're going to shut it down and send the 125,000 employees to the border isn't policy, it's stand up comedy. Fun time is over. Walker isn't joking around and neither is Bush or any of the other probable candidates. Cruz should stop with the one-liners and get serious or he'll be so far behind the others he'll never catch up.

I read it as a throw away line meant to get a laugh. Or do you think Cruz seriously thinks he can take 125,000 clerical and administrative employees and turn them into border guards overnight?

Then how about some serious proposals on how to accomplish that? How will he pass a flat or sales tax in the face of business and upper income people who would fight it to the death, never mind the opposition from the Democrats? How will he sell a flat or sales tax to that 40-odd percent of the population who would see their taxes go up under such a plan? Like I said, the time for joking is past. Walker is serious. Bush is serious. It's time for Cruz to get serious too.

A flat tax doesn’t necessarily mean taxes go up. It’s all in how its structured and what other hidden taxes go away to make it balance out.

It’s obvious to me, for example, that a poverty level income wouldn’t pay any income tax, flat or not. I disagree with that and personally think everyone should have skin in the game, but I’m not an elected official.

FWIW, my personal favorite is a sales tax, but I don’t think we’ll go straight from an income tax to a sales tax.

I’d like to see EVERY GOP candidate adopt this list.

I have not been a big Cruz fan, but he may win me over yet.
