President Barack Obama vetoed the Republicans Keystone XL pipeline bill Tuesday, rejecting Congress attempt to take the projects fate out of his hands and leaving the GOP prepared to attempt an override vote that will most likely fail.
Obamas veto message was delivered within hours of the legislation arriving on his desk. The White House had previously criticized lawmakers for trying to strip the executive branchs authority over cross-border energy projects like the $8 billion Canada-to-Texas oil pipeline.

Im not shocked obviously, Senate Energy and Natural Resources Chairwoman Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) said even before the widely expected decision came down. Im disappointed because I think the president is missing an opportunity when it comes to jobs and North American energy independence.
Greens were preemptively cheering the veto, which they see as putting the White House well on track to ultimately rejecting Keystone. Obama has no binding deadline to make the final decision on the pipelines permit, but Secretary of State John Kerry could make his own recommendation on the issue as soon as this week.
Obama’s only too happy to keep America dependent on Middle East oil.
I wonder if I should hold my breath waiting for a harsh RINO response. Maybe Boehner will cry a little this afternoon. Or Perhaps, McConnell will mumble a rebuke.
Make every senator vote to override the veto.
Puts the Dems in a very bad position, especially in Republican states.
Mitch won’t do that—Harry Reid might get mad.
RE: Make every senator vote to override the veto.
Won’t happen.
Republicans have 54 votes. They’ll need another 13 to override. Which 13 Dems are going to go with the GOP?
I'm......well, you know........................
It will be close, but still I want it on record.
Did he use one of those little golf pencils to sign the veto?
Good. President Fumblebutt didn’t get to bluff his way through this one. Keep after him.
“Obama wants you to pay more for gasoline!”
Bravo to the Republicans. Make him own his anti-jobs, anti-growth, pro-poverty, environmentally-dangerous (trains derailing with petroleum), and anti-energy independence agenda.
> Wont happen.
Yep, but make them vote. Simple yea or neah will do.
Unfortunately, except for Ted Cruz and a few others, the Republicans are spineless wimps.
Gaping rectum!
At least Bammy and his buddies are out in the open now and can’t pretend they are on both sides of the issue.
Now why would not an override vote be attempted. What a pos this whole Washington has become. What filthy lowlifes these Senators become as they raise to power.
Send it back and make him veto it again, and again, and again.
