There is an important lesson here for us all: How often genuine political promise coexists with puerility and worse.
White House press secretary Josh Earnest wasnt just being diplomatic or clever yesterday when he said he feels sad and sorry for Rudy Giuliani, the former Americas mayor whos been raging like a sidewalk lunatic at President Obama. There actually is something sad about Rudys long self-destruction, which began before his disastrous presidential primary bid of 2008.
Sad, but possibly instructive to the future sidewalk lunatics among todays Republican presidential-wannabes. Maybe you had to be with Giuliani at the start of his electoral career to learn what they and the rest of us should learn from this spectacle: not to gloat or cluck our tongues, but to consider how often genuine political promise coexists with puerility and worse...

Yes, and other male homosexuals as well.
Jim Sleeper..... MSM reject hanging on at Salon.
He is like Barack Obama an Aqmerican enemy worse than Al Qeada
The intellectual superiority of the Left exposed: massive projection.
Maybe Barry will have a presser with James Taylor singing Barney the dinosaur’s “I Love You, You Love Me”
That’s like waiting for his minions to give one example of his love of America. It can’t be found.
Progressive idiots like Jim Sleeper simply do not understand how normal people see the world.
He reflexively shields his brain whenever a glimmer of truth threatens to invade his carefully-constructed comfort zone of liberal deceit and denial.
The Sleeper must awaken.
Yes, people visit the site more than you think. It is the 305th most popular site in America, and 1093rd in the world (according to Alexa). For comparison, Free Republic is 3073 in the U.S. and 10,335 in the world.
The left is so predictable. If you say anything negative about dear reader you are either evil or stupid. They make me ill. This idiot is not fit to shine Rudy’s shoes.
Who is Jim Sleeper and why should I care what she thinks?
If you read the whole thing there are some clues that possibly reconcile Sleeper’s book and Sleeper’s article.
It looks like Sleeper is a center-left liberal who was critical of the hard-left “root cause” based policies that wrecked NYC back in the Dinkin years. He predicted that Guiliani’s opposition to those policies would win him the mayoral election, which proved true, and then went on to write some positive things about Guiliani in the ensuing years (he had a column in one of the NYC papers at the time). No doubt this royally ticked off the NYC hard lefties who had to sit there and boil because he was correct.
Now Guiliani makes his statements about Obama and all the sudden Sleeper is vulnerable, or at least embarrassed. He has to find a way to distance himself from “his boy” Guiliani. So he writes an article in Salon calling Guiliani a sidewalk lunatic and explains that he knew Guiliani had these tendencies all along.
I completely agree with Rudy. He simply said on a world stage what people like me have known since 2008. Rudy now becomes a target as described in the Rules for Radicals.
___
RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)
I’m a sidewalk lunatic.
Sad, pathetic - but all-too-predictable - horse apples from Salon.
Why the shock about the name calling? That’s all these people are left with since they can’t debate our side with substance. This coming from the side that had no problem calling George W. Bush a moron or saying constantly, “Bush lied. People died” over and over again.
Yep! Just because we don’t believe the crazy libtards, then we are all crazy...
I have liked Rudy since the day he gave the ‘check’ back to the Saudi Prince...Rudy knew what was going on then, and he knows what is going on now...
The only sad thing about Rudy is, he can’t be our President because there aren’t enough people who have their heads out off their a$$es to know which end is up!
Salon? I though that was a magazine for hairdressers.
