Former Republican presidential candidate and congressman Ron Paul says secession is happening and its good news. Paul later predicted the states would stop listening to federal laws.
I would like to start off by talking about the subject and the subject is secession and, uh, nullification, the breaking up of government, and the good news is its gonna happen. Its happening, Paul, the father of potential Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul, told a gathering at the libertarian Mises Institute in late January. The event Paul was speaking at was titled Breaking Away: The Case for Secession.
Paul said secession would not be legislated by Congress, but would be defacto, predicting when conditions breakdown theres gonna be an alternative.
And its not gonna be because there will be enough people in the U.S. Congress to legislate it. It wont happen. It will be defacto. Ya know, youll have a gold standard when the paper standard fails and were getting awfully close to that. And people will have to resort to taking care of themselves. So when conditions breakdown, ya know, theres gonna be an alternative. And I think thats what were witnessing.

Really? Try reading it again.
The first thing that needs to happen, I think, is Texas issuing its own coin, which we’re allowed to do. No paper, just coin.
If it just happened to be gold coin, held at armorys, that Texas-charter-only banks could use as the 1/10 or even better 1/20 fractional reserve, then Texas banks could literally issue ancillary ‘currency’ with their bank checks.
If Texas could escape the Fed Reserve, with our own dollar system, everything else would fall into place, after we commandeered all our military assets and gave the fed IOUs for them. We would need the alliance of all our contiguous sister-states, and acquisition of serious air command.
Kinda the exact opposite of what Sam Houston wanted, but this ain’t 1846, is it?
As fast as the Army is imploding, they wouldn’t have to form very many.
I agree with what you say about getting rid of the corruption and getting back to the constitution. However a vast number of “Americans” think the constitution and our intended representative republic is not what they desire and feel it is a hinderance to their progressive agenda.
I don’t see a way of getting them on board with doing what you say about correcting our problems.
In California we have street gangs and speak Spanglish. It’s a start.
The arrogant democrats are on the other side now. Seems like that would work in favor of the secessionists next time around.
I agree with him on this too, and I don’t see why so many people think that secession has to be accompanied by military might. Yes, we had a civil war the last time there was state secession, but that doesn’t mean there HAS to be one. This isn’t 1860.
“the arrogant democrat south”
As opposed to the noble and godly north who laid waste to the south and killed their people for the higher good.
I think you’re right.
But it needs a state government that wants to do it.
Texas is economically the most capable of being self sustaining I’d guess.
But let me know when they have a governor, sec of state, state house majority leader, state senate majority leader etc advocating leaving the union.
Or even viable candidates for these offices that are advocating it.
Otherwise it’s just bluster.
Agreed, also the point of issuing their own (metal backed) currency would be necessary as well-as that would have to continue the welfare state for a while as many residents now live on this (especially our seasoned citizens).
To which I would likely respond: "I dunno. Are you people going to reimburse their payroll deductions."
Yes they have 3.2m on Medicare, 4.1m on Medicaid, and 4.0m on food stamps. There’s quite a bit of overlap on the last two groups.
The probability of that happening is equal to the probability of Malaria and Sharia Obama attending Hillsdale College.
Look at it like the TX power interchange. Most of TX is self-contained, it buys and sells elec when necessary, but doesn’t rely on other states, especially like the FED. Now envision the State’s money moving around like the electricity does, it can be shut off, too. We know who gets checks from the Feds, where, and how much. We stop remitting funds and pay those recipients out of our bank account, saving the 20% the Fed skims.
In return we get to field our own military, enforce our own border, deliver our own mail and not have to pick up another phone call from DC again. Wouldn’t you like to part of that?
But we live in the age of forced busing and gay marriages, not the right to divorce from the Federal.
Let me know when they have a governor, sec of state, state house majority leader, state senate majority leader etc advocating leaving the union.
Or even a viable candidate for one of those offices.
Until then, it’s just blather.
I might misunderstand your point, but I’ve read that Sam Houston opposed secession.
What should happen is that each state should adopt a statute organizing a "Militia"--all able bodied citizens are members; they are all authorized to buy have hold use maintain and practice any kind of arms including but not limited to ammunition and weapons available to the United States Army.
Use the Driver's License index files plus the alternate ID index files.
Further provide that the state militia serves in various levels to be elected by the members; so you have household level members who have guns; you have community or local township members who are connected through a single officer; you then have county memberships; the county memberships report to the governors office.
Define the duties as state, local and community defense.
Further adopt nullification legislation by state statute depriving federal officials of legal power to execute federal laws.
That is step one to enforce the Second Amendment and prevent the federal government from using powers like the federal firearms acts to limit power to buy hold and use ammo of specific kinds and to use other regulatory provisions to limit the right of citizens to hold specific weapons.
Another set of statutes that is necessary is a gold and silver legal tender statute. Eliminate state transaction taxes on gold and silver and make gold and silver legal tender for all debts public and private; use an exchange value to convert dollar obligations.
Well, as TXhurl said, this isn’t 1846.
I have been posting this theory for a year or more. Ron Paul is right. As things continue to devolve and they will the states will go their own way. Just wait til the SCOTUS upholds gay marriage. The South is the bible belt and conservative. We don’t want it and at some point will probably just refuse it.
We just got back from our US Rep’s townhall. Our Dist is the most conservative in the state of GA. The guy gave us no indication that the GOP have any type of plan whatsoever to lead us forward or take back the constitutional republic. It appears they are in total disarray. We are increasingly going to be on our own.
