Agreed, also the point of issuing their own (metal backed) currency would be necessary as well-as that would have to continue the welfare state for a while as many residents now live on this (especially our seasoned citizens).
Yes they have 3.2m on Medicare, 4.1m on Medicaid, and 4.0m on food stamps. There’s quite a bit of overlap on the last two groups.
