Go to any Walmart Super Store the first of the month in New Mexico an the lines stretch to the back of the store with many having two or three baskets full of stuff.

They must mean “highest percentage of population” and NOT “greatest number” because California probably has more people on food stamps than actually live in New Mexico.
There is no way NM is #3 based on actual numbers.

Of the top ten states, eight are red states. Oregon and New Mexico (which has a Republican Governor and purple legislature) are the outliers. DC isn’t a state and shouldn’t be counted. We need to be holding our red states to higher standards.

Oregon? That seems a bit surprising compared to some others on the list above it.

It was worse in Espanola before the casinos came along. With the casinos, meth labs and Los Alamos, there is money to go along with the food cards. Walmart is crowded all the time.

I’ve heard that the Walmart on Coors Bypass is the busiest store in the Western U.S., or at least used to be before they opened the other two nearby (Rio Rancho and Bernalillo).

Why do the red states always end up on lists like this.....Mississippi is a great conservative state but poor as crazy and is on the list of poor schools, foot stamps, free lunches, low per capita income, etc. So strange. You would think after full Republican leadership they would do something about it.
