I wonder to what degree the growth of SNAP / food stamps has driven food price inflation by removing price sensitivity for those who would otherwise be most sensitive.

My son worked as a cashier at Kroger. They buy a lot of pre-packaged foods that are easy to sell as “loosies”. That’s why they always have cash for cigarettes.
