WASHINGTON, D.C. As Congress readies to reauthorize Michelle Obamas Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act this year, students and parents continue to post photographic evidence of the programs shortcomings.
The School Nutrition Association is weighing in, too.
Some of USDAs regulations under the law have unnecessarily increased costs and waste for school meal programs and caused many students to swap healthy school meals for junk food fare, says SNA CEO Patricia Montague in a news release.
The group points out 1.4 million fewer children are eating school lunches since the rules championed by First Lady Michelle Obama were implemented.
That can easily be explained by some of the skimpy, moldy, mysterious and downright disgusting lunches being served to students.
Take a look at some of the photos students have posted to Twitter in just the last few days:
Meanwhile, First Lady Michelle Obama is urging parents to do more.
I want you to really dive into this issue in your schools, your organizations, community, your company, your family, wherever you are a leader and decision-maker. Dive in. If Robert Wood Johnson can invest half a billion dollars surely we can push the envelope and aim just a little higher in our own efforts, Obama said at a speech announcing the foundations contribution to healthy food initiatives, according to Newsday.
Weve seen the progress we can make, the first lady said, when we educate parents and we help them make healthier decisions.
Democrats forcing children to chose between being hungry, and eating spoiled food, is that children are beginning to understand that Democrats hate them.
People with food hangups are exhibiting a sign of deep disturbance, run!
I am pretty certain FUNDING for school lunches has not been cut, so where are they using that money?
People who rely on the government to feed them have no business complaining about what they’re given.

My guess is that the elite children of congress people won’t be getting near this kind of food so politicians aren’t really interested in what it looks like.
I have no sympathies. Nearly 100% of school “food” is given away for free (paid by us taxpayers). If the kids don’t want to eat it then let the welfare parents prepare them a brown bag lunch with the free food stamps they get from people who work for a living.
Just guessing here, but these lunches probably cost more than the old nutritious ones.
Looks like an opportunity for some enterprising students to offer alternatives, for a price.
Of course, there are risks associated with any kind of black market activities.
I wonder how a kid caught in possession with a backpack full of homemade burritos would be treated compared with someone else found to be selling drugs.
As much as I despise — believe me, it’s deep-seated — both of the Obamas, and resent the fact that she’s been allowed to effectively create expensive legislation without being duly authorized through election, I don’t think it’s fair to hold her responsible for all the evils depicted in the pictures.
Ill-prepared, over-cooked food, using stale or spoiled ingredients are a sign of careless, neglectful execution, not flawed legislation. Despite what the cafeteria workers think of the regulations, they should have enough pride and concern for the kids to try to make the food as tasty and presentable as possible under the circumstances.

I was served Garlic Haricot Verts day before yesterday
They are merely ordinary yankee green beans with some flavoring. They don’t compare with green beans cooked with a little fat back, salt and pepper
He would make more money selling them to the kids than if he sold drugs! LOL
What ARE the legislations she created that lead to this?
I’ve craped better “food” than that crap.
THIS is what our tax monies are paying for?

Last year in the U.S., Henrico County, Virginia:
In the 90’s the Iowa UMC Church I attended (that was my former wife’s denomination) did an annual pork chop dinner as a fundraiser. They cooked up locally grown green beans with ham hocks, white potatoes and some kind of pot likker for days. Almost as good as the inch thick, specially ordered heritage pork chops!
