When they forsook God and relied on their own devices (you want a king ... OK ... I'll GIVE you a king ... and various et cetera's) ... they cried out and wailed to HIM to no avail until they realized ... they had turned away from HIM and had ignored His men.
Freerepublic exists because we are de facto apostate and until we realize that and 2 CHRON 7:14 ... Freerepublic has a job and a purpose
I've never seen a thread like what I'm posting now, so maybe ... this can be His wake-up call to the Christians HERE
Is this actually NEWS? Or a vanity?
I saw/heard a message by Tony Evans 2 days ago, that said the exact same thing.
The people were no longer satisfied to have God rule over them. They wanted a king like everybody else.
In time government took the place of God. People look to government to take care of every ill, instead of looking to God. As the society becomes more and more secular, the faster it falls farther a way. And thus the more and more corrupt society is.
See post #24 on that thread...
Pretty much like the first dozen or so chapters of Isaiah.
The kingdom of Judah had no idea the deportation to Babylon was going to come, even though Isaiah would prophesy that later in the book.
If God did not spare His own people, how can we think we will be treated differently?
I noticed at the last conservative convention that Cruz was the only one who mentioned the name of Jesus Christ, he did so at least three times in that one speech, but I think more like six times, I watched the whole show and intermittently missed a few minutes here and there, so someone else may have done so but I didn’t hear it.
Does anyone have a link to video or the text of Bobby Jindal’s recent speech at American Family Association?
I can only find excerpted quotes, and would like the whole thing (for context, you know).

It was always my view that God and America were on the same page.
Looking at America now, and the deviant cultural path it has taken, I no longer hold that view. I increasingly see God and America on opposite ends of the spectrum.
Where there is a lack of GRACE there is a lack of goodness. The void is filled by sin. Where there is SIN there is suffering and death.
Well, THAT IS GOOD NEWS ... because it means Jesus is coming soon to set up his one-world government over this nation and the other nations in the world. The WORSE IT GETS, the better I like it ... :-) ...
Honest Christians would agree with you.
The day we kicked God out of the classroom was the day our demise began. Abortion followed, homosexual “rights” after that, pornography, and every vile sin imaginable is being spewed out of this sewage pit called the “USA”.
Now we have a muzzie president in a twist of irony after 9/11 who hates Israel (the apple of God’s eye) and despises Christians.
God has given us over. No doubt about it. It will end horribly. You can’t as a nation EVER escape the genocide of murdering over 60 million of your most innocent among you and expect a HOLY GOD to forgive you and heal your land until justice is served.
We as a nation are screwed. I’m convinced of it....flame away................
Forsook?
This is a VANITY ... which is posted under “NEWS”
We’re in turmoil because that’s a place the human mind is comfortable. Read The Progress Paradox, it’s an interesting book that talks a lot about how people focus on the bad and ignore the good because we have some sort of need for there to be problems. Both problems we can solve (because we like solving problems) and problems we can’t solve (because we like to complain). And the smoother our life is going the more effort we put into seeking problems.
The world is filled with problems, always has been, always will be. But the obsession on problems and the constant ignoring of good things in our life comes from between our ears.
I’m embarrassed for you.
We are in turmoil because we need to re-read Ephesians Chapter six where Paul ways “we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers” This is a spiritual battle and voting for someone with and (R) or (D) after thier name will not solve anything unless they are aware of the spiritual reality of things.
I would recommend to Freepers re reading your Bible. Getting in touch with what the Holy Spirit is telling you.
My wife and I recently read The Mystery of the Shemitah by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn. It discusses a Biblical pattern the God follows regardless of what man is doing.
That’s the thing to keep in mind. We cannot control God, that was the mistake at BABEL. So we can either get on board with God’s plan in our life, or constantly be in turmoil because of a lack of this truth.

I agree. I’m no Bible expert, but if you look at the curses that God told Israel would befall them if they turned away from Him...well, those curses are pretty much happening to us now.
