Scott Walker forms committee in preparation for 2016 presidential bid

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, whose speech to activists in Iowa last weekend drew strong reviews, has taken the first formal step toward a presidential candidacy in 2016, establishing a committee that will help spread his message and underwrite his activities as he seeks to build his political and fundraising networks in the months ahead.

Walker filed papers to set up the committee, called "Our American Revival," and a new Web site for the organization was scheduled to go live later Tuesday. The steps come after a busy weekend of pre-presidential events that included his address at the Iowa Freedom Summit, a later appearance at a gathering in California hosted by the billionaire Koch brothers and a stopover in Denver for additional fundraising.

“Our American Revival encompasses the shared values that make our country great; limiting the powers of the federal government to those defined in the Constitution while creating a leaner, more efficient, more effective and more accountable government to the American people,” Walker said in a statement in the release announcing the committee.

I definitely will be looking at Walker. Anyone who can take on the government union worker pension system and benefits boondoggle and win deserves a serious look.

Here is another ‘me too’.

The GOP needs a young, energetic, conservative candidate this time around.

I do like the name he chose, AMERICAN REVIVAL. Not as good as Reagan’s ‘Morning in America’ though.

If he gets his mind right on immigration, he’s the best combination of experience and ideology we are likely to get.

I thought he was a RINO. I can’t keep track of everyone who has broken one of the ideological tenants at one point in his or her career, but I distinctly remember the “RINO” tag being thrown around with regards to Gov. Walker.

Everybody listed that you would support are according to some Freepers have various serious flaws not worthy of a true blood and guts American conservative vote...except Cruz...

They will sit on their hands until their guy wins...

BTW, I agree with your list...

Walker or Cruz for me...

However, something very aggressive needs to be done to keep the “establishment” from stealing it.

I would suggest that we dispense with the labels and look at the person’s RECORD of governance as well as his proposed policies on issues he has no control over — i.e. foreign policy, immigration.

I am sure not every single policy will be agreeable to everyone. The questions to ask are these:

1) Is he acceptable even with issues we don’t agree with?

2) Is the alternative better?

Interesting how Palin’s name hasn’t come up yet on this thread.

Agreed. Well here is the big one for Walker... he supports a path to citizenship for illegals. Is that an acceptable position?

I’ve occasionally confused Scott Walker with Scott Brown, the RINO with the truck. I had not heard Walker called a RINO....

Just imagine the contrast at a debate between the corrupt, old, tired, medically impaired, thoroughly used up Witch and a young, dynamic Walker, who’s defeated every DemonCrap he’s come up against. Devastating.

Ah, that would be a good reason to call Walker RINO.

I can picture JEB! telling him, “You can be MY wingman”.

He’s my provisional choice, though he needs to get right on the issue of real border security. I agree with Mark Levin that conservatives need to strongly coalesce early on, or the conservative pack will get worn down by the money the RINOs can muster. I think Paul is going to make a very strong run because he’ll gin up the youth/libertarian vote, and I could live with him. For VP: Carson or Rubio. Cruz for Attorney General.

Any candidate I support MUST do the following:

1. Drastically simplify government regulations.
2. Cut down the size of government by 15-20%.
3. Massively overhaul national taxation to make it cheap to comply with and encourage savings and capital formation staying in the USA.
