“Hurt Locker made $17 million because it was a little ambiguous, and thoughtful,” Maher said. “And this one was just, ‘American hero! He’s a psychopath patriot, and we love him.’”

I would respectfully disagree that salvation lies in the direction of lowering ourselves to the level of evil of the Muslim... and I would point out that even Kyle did not. In their most intense form they will kill anyone they don’t like. We, in contradistinction, still insist on a Western idea of responsibility and kill only key figures. And that rests upon a sane Jehovah, not an insane Allah.
This reminds me of the stories about Canadian WWII ace George Beurling.

In a way, I admire Maher's honesty. He admits that he's one of those people who can't handle the truth.
I embrace Christ and genuine Christian principles, which have a difficulty with such a worldview. It isn’t unforgivable, but we don’t need to make it a goal either.
I do respect my Jewish counterparts’ philosophy (showing the light of the same Jehovah God, if not as theologically forward looking as Christ) “If your neighbor rises up to kill you, rise up and kill him first, BUT NOT WITH GLEE.” The New Testament echos this somewhat in “Do not take your own vengeance, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God.” It’s up to God whether someone goes to hell. God didn’t ask our vote. Don’t make it personal.
I regret that it is necessary in this world by God’s plan and look forward to a time when it won’t be necessary any more.

Yes, I would agree with you, and if you lose your soul in the process of fighting an enemy who have lost their soul - arguably you are rendering your own life meaningless. That said, I certainly don't think that's what is happening with our military while fighting this enemy who have no problem with strapping bombs on woman and children, beheading people, and flying planes into buildings filled with civilians.
I think we also need to realize what it's truly like when exposed to the things people like Kyle were exposed to. It's easy for someone like Maher to sit in a nice cozy studio with a pandering audience and ‘speak his mind’, passing judgment on others who put their lives on the line fighting to protect his American rights to speak his mind. Killing is killing, and during WWII we bombed and killed lots of civilians. War is horrible, which is why deterrent strategies (e.g. having a strong military, having a strong foreign policy and ties to strong like-minded allies, having great intelligence and counterintelligence, and not a policy of appeasement) are essential - to avoid the tragedy of war.
Being true to ones religious convictions in all of this is very, very difficult. Thou shall not kill is pretty clear, but what do you do when someone wants to kill you, and your family, and destroy your way of life?

Bill Maher is a psychopath. Oddly enough Kris Kyle is no longer here on earth to defend himself because he was taken out by a former soldier who was a psycho. Hey Bill Maher go to Afghanistan or Syria and fight against the Militant Islamists? Wonder how long Bill Maher will last 12 hours, 24 hours or 36 hours? because Bill Maher does not understand that Chris Kyle defended Bill Maher’s liberty to shot off his mouth and call him whatever he wants. But in all reality Bill Maher is just that a psychopath whom should learn to shut his piehole.
I heard somebody refer to Maher as being “pink slime”...I think that’s accurate.

I’m glad someone brought God into this. In his book, Kyle states he had “fun” killing savages. God does not approve of any of us having fun killing anyone. Yes, it is necessary to kill the enemy and while God desires all to be save, He says it is ok to kill in defense, which includes defense of ones nation. Kyle did have emotional problems. I don’t know if Kyle had problems before going into the military or the training he went through caused his problems. But we should never lift up someone who had fun killing. Yes, it might have been a coping mechanism. But like many mechanism we develop to cope with difficult situations, this was an improper one to take on.
