I know there are many angered by the title of this post, but the truth hurts. I cannot tell you the number of times I have been to political events where a politician kisses babies and talks Jesus so the pro-lifers in the crowd get thigh sweats and send the politician to Washington. When the politician takes up with his mistress or pays for an abortion or, as Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC) did, undermines the pro-life cause, they are just horrified.
But still they return predictable to the GOP for more abuse and disappointment.
Maybe it is time for a third party to give the GOP competition. Yesterday, the GOP threw its base under the bus. The Republicans who claim to support the pro-life movement, including Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC) who claimed shed vote for the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act after she ensured it would not pass, need to be beaten. Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC), in particular, must be ruined politically even if it means the pro-life community sends a pro-abortion Democrat in her place. Theyll still have improved the seat by replacing Ellmers with someone who is not a damnable liar.
The pro-life cause must stop acting like the Republican Party's whore and must instead show New Testament grace to the world and Old Testament vengeance to politicians.

He speaks for many pro-lifers I have heard from since late Wednesday night. In the twenty years I have been in politics, I have never heard so much contempt from run of the mill Republican voters. Humorously, people who have for years assailed me for beating up the GOP are now willing to throw up their hands and stay home.
The GOP has some good people in it.
The GOP probably has more good people in it than the demonRAT party.
But, for the most part, the demonRATS and rethuglicans have the same goal, only different means.
Thank you.

I thought Erickson was a “reform the party from within” guy. More and more from that camp are rumbling about third parties.
But, for the most part, the demonRATS and rethuglicans have the same goal, only different means.
The only thing the repthuglicans are doing is slowing down the trip to hell and they don’t even do that very well.
He was. This is significant.
At some point, you have to acknowledge the lesser evil is still evil.
Many conservatives act as unwisely and irrationally as battered wives who keep going back for more.
Who we gonna go with? The DEMOCRAT Party???
Not bloody well likely. Here in Pennsyltucky I’ve spent too much of my life watching double-talking Dems like Bob Casey speak loudly about being Pro-Life (yet embracing “economics that work for da WORKIN’ MAN!”) only to get to D.C. and proceed to vote for death like all the other Democrats. Yet little old Catholic ladies keep pulling the lever for these guys. Makes my head want to ‘splode!
The GOP treats conservatives, especially those of us who are outspoken about social conservatism, exactly the same way that the Democrats treat minorities. They want us for the votes, but expect us to shut up afterward.
I have no intention of ever voting for a politician again just because of the letter after his or her name. The last presidential election where there was a genuine difference between the candidates was 1984, I can no longer allow myself to believe that ANY of the losing candidates (Dukakis, Bush, Dole, Gore, Kerry, McCain, Romney) would have governed in a way that is discernibly different than the winning candidate. The GOP want EXACTLY THE SAME THING as the Democrats, they both want big government with socialized medicine, out-of-control spending, high taxes, etc.; the only thing they are arguing about is who gets to take the credit for it.
GOPe Moral Absolutes
” We absolutely have no morals”
” The GOP has NEVER been pro-life or conservative in any way, for that matter. Sure there are conservative pro-life Republicans, but the party isn’t and never has been.
The GOP treats conservatives, especially those of us who are outspoken about social conservatism, exactly the same way that the Democrats treat minorities. They want us for the votes, but expect us to shut up afterward.”
Worth a repost!
BUMP
Just like Tennessee used to be, back when everyone got their news from The Tennesseean and couldn't figure out what the Gores and Jim Cooper were doing once they got to Washington.
The main problem is that few seem to understand what “pro-life” or “conservative” even mean any more, at the core. They have no foundation of understanding, so they’re building on shifting sand.
Honestly, what they did this week was just unbelieveable. I turned in my voter registration card a couple of years ago. I did so because it just doesn't matter what the people want anymore, it only matters what they can get away with, and what they will say to get re-elected. We are no longer a government "by the people". I simply decided that I could no longer participate in, what I view, as a totally corrupt system. I am sympathetic with Eric's POV from this article, and I think more people are looking at the 3rd party option; but, once they get to DC, the system will corrupt them, and we are back at square one.
They certainly don't.
They believe being pro-life is about restricting abortion through a series of "and then you can kill the baby" laws that will never even be enforced, much less save lives.
They also believe that the National Right to Life Committee is actually pro-life at the top management level, when it is actually just another bloated non-profit. The NRLC has no more interest in ending abortion than the NAACP does in ending racism, abortion is its raison d'etre (they've never focused much at all on euthanasia) and the source of nearly all of their money. A century and a half ago abolitionists were longing the day that they achieved victory through emancipation and citizenship, today leaders of the NRLC are busy making sure that next years pro-life rally is bigger than this years.
They have no foundation of understanding, so theyre building on shifting sand.
They would have been very comfortable in the Whig Party of the early 19th century, they would be very proud of themselves for limiting the geographical area that allowed slavery but did NOTHING to actually free a single slave.
The GOP probably has more good people in it than the demonRAT party.
The Democrat Party has NO good people in it.. not one..
Just being a democrat shows your colors..
AND Most republicans are as bad as democrats..
Not all but most..
Obama is PUNISHMENT for all that..
deserved punishment..
Looks like RedState just threw down the gauntlet. I guess its time to welcome them to the CONSERVATIVE movement. A bit late to the gala, but welcome nonetheless.
Hell hath no fury like a pro-lifer scorned.
“Who we gonna go with? The DEMOCRAT Party???”
How ‘bout simply staying home? Or voting third party? What point is there in voting for one faction or the other in the uniparty if the end result is always the same?
At some point “working for change within” is just shorthand for complicity and collaboration.
