This whole reeks of oligarchy but if this is the system prefer is no agreement was reached and Romney splits the GOPe. The Bush Clan must be putting a lot of pressure on Romney not to run but Romney has the wealth and his own connections to give them the middle finger.

IMHO, a Romney/Bush ticket makes sense...if they were running for the democratic nomination.

“I now name Mitt Romney as my running mate”
Shudder.

This is all quite sick. Hillary, Romney, Bush can all go to hell. No different than Putin oligarchy of the rich.

Republicans close to both Mr. Romney and Mr. Bush were notably tight-lipped about the long-planned meeting, which the two would-be candidates and their advisers were unhappy had been revealed publicly.Mitt: "Okay, Jeb, they are on to me. I have zero chance. But I believe I can help you win."
Jeb: "How?"
Mitt: "I run far to your left. I am not trying to win, I'm just trying to give you credentials for looking more ... .hehehehehe... 'conservative'.... the idiots will eat it up."
Jeb: "Nice! You need anything in return?"
Mitt: "A Cabinet position would be pretty neat."
Jeb: "Done."

They felt each other about who might be VP in what case, but the overall goal of the meeting was to lay out the beginnings of a strategy to sabotage a Ted Cruz candidacy.
You can take that to the bank.

Given a choice of Hillary/Biden ticket or Bush/Romney ticket....man, I’d have to be mostly wasted on election day and just not remember who or what I voted for.
To: C19fan
Bush: Don't you remember that you were supposed to be a placeholder for me?
Romney: Yeah, but I came a lot closer to winning than your Daddy in 1992 or your designated placeholder in 2008!
Bush: But you agreed to be a placeholder and a deal is a deal!
Romney: Yeah, but the polls show I'd still be more likely to win than you!
Bush: So? The polls also show a conservative would be more likely to win than either of us.
Romney: You mean somebody like Ted Cruz?
Bush: We can't have that, can we?

Get the popcorn ready. These two are going to destroy each other. Both desperately want to be president and I don’t see either backing down. Perfect scenario for someone like Cruz to fly under the radar and take it.
To: Lazamataz
Interesting theory, but I just don’t see Mitt Romney conceding his ambition that he has literally been working on as a full-time job for the last 20 years.

It would suck up almost all the available money. In the first primaries Jebney will not be running actually. Their names will be on the ballots but all their efforts outside of the de rigueur "debates" will be aimed to flood the media with slander about the conservative candidates, concentrating on the ones who are leading. Primary by primary the conservatives will be slandered into oblivion until the two, or the one depending on what they decide between them, will be the last man standing. Then they will run seriously in the later primaries where one or both- if they run as a team- may well win with a minority of total pledged delegates.
Then, of course, they will fumble or throw the election. The Democrats know this and will nominate the candidate farthest to the Left that they can get. TYhe next president will be effectively a Communist. If the Republicans in Congress behave over the next two years as Republicans have behaved since Gingrich then the Democrat/Communist president will have majorities in both houses after 2016. probably a 2/3 majority in the Senate with the ability to pass any law they choose by Treaty with any little country that can be bought. The Obamanist Courts will interpret the Constitution such that Treaties will trump the Constitution and American Law altogether. The Supreme Court will complete its move to the hard Left with the sudden deaths of one or two Conservative Justices and the open apostasy of Roberts.

I think that is illegal, if done that explicitly. What is this, Illinois?

I am suddenly more and more interested in a possible run by Gov. Pataki. Not that I think he could win, or even be good. I just want him to be a thorn in their sides (and Christie's, too).
Every lib republican in the pool!
