Mitt Romney: Climate Change is Real, World Must Tackle It

As he considers a third presidential campaign, Mitt Romney said Wednesday night that one of the country's biggest challenges is climate change and that global solutions are needed to combat it.

"I'm one of those Republicans who thinks we are getting warmer and that we contribute to that," he said.

The 2012 Republican presidential nominee spoke to a sold-out crowd of about 3,000 at an investment management conference. It was his second public address since privately telling potential donors two weeks ago that he's considering seeking the presidency in 2016.

Romney didn't address a possible campaign at the event, but he used his 30-minute speech and a Q&A session afterward to lay out what appeared to be a populist platform. While hitting familiar Republican points criticizing the size of the federal debt, Romney at times sounded like a Democrat, calling for President Barack Obama and other leaders in Washington to act on climate change, poverty and education.

His evolving platform comes as he works to reshape his image after consecutive presidential defeats. He spent little time talking about poverty, the middle class or climate change in a 2012 campaign in which opponents cast him as an out-of-touch millionaire. But in public and private conversations in recent weeks he has focused on poverty, perhaps above all, a dramatic shift for the former private-equity executive.

Will THIS finally wake up the Mitt Bots and make them realize that he is and always has been not only a RINO, but a LEFT WING Democrat.

Having observed Mittbots since 2008, I doubt it. They will just keep chugging that Kool-Aid.

mitt. Climate change is real. Humans are the cause.
When 9/11 happened, the weather was beautiful right after that. The skies were clear and the birds sang. Why? There were no planes flying for some time.

Go get this. Planes cause that global “warming” you speak of, not cars, not my furnace or my recycling or the cow farts. Planes fly between the earth and the sun and their exhaust create a barrier.

So mitt, if you truly are going to go with the climate hoax, ban airplanes or limit the amount of planes flying at the same time. Better yet, work to create private planes that fly on electricity.

The Little people are told to car pool, yet the Big people are not told to plane pool. How much damage to the sky will that trip to Davos cause? Why don’t you big shots take a ship to Davos?

In the meantime, the climate thing is a hoax and a scam. What honest politician would use that to get votes?

I’ll stick with the daily weather and the regularly scheduled seasons.

Mitt Romney: Climate Change is Real, World Must Tackle It

_____________________________________________________

Mitt is not saying anything that other Repubs are saying. Just yesterday the Senate voted 98-1 to pass an Amendment stating that “Climate Change is not a Hoax”.

I do think that a) The climate is changing, b) it’s getting more extreme - warmer AND colder and 3) that we DO contribute to it.

According to geological studies and NOAA, about 125,000 years ago (an eternity in human history but a nanosecond in geologic context), sea levels were so high that MOST of what we now call Florida was underwater. Indeed, you can see for yourself the old coastline if you drive from Tampa to Orlando. I have seen it many times.

According to the same, a mere 20,000 years ago (again, a very very very long time in human history -- we were barely cavemen 20,000 years ago) but a fragment of a nanosecond in geologic contest, sea levels were so LOW that what we now call Florida was TWICE AS BIG as it is now.

There is no telling how quickly the weather changed, whether it happened in weeks, years, or centuries. Now you tell me, Tangled Up, how in the hell YOU think YOU know that it is getting more extreme and that humans caused it?

Because you are IGNORANT of geological history. IGNORANT people are gullible people. The only reason people believed Al Gore's "Earth in the Balance" (I read every word of the book and took notes) is because they hadn't already read real apolitical geography and paleontology books that directly CONTRADICT many of Gore's claims. I will believe scientists and my own logic before I'll believe a politician. SO SHOULD YOU, Tangled up, but you have to READ and EDUCATE yourself.

Intelligent, well-meaning Americans who buy into the man-caused global warming scam are very much like intelligent, well-meaning natives in Africa who bought into the "White Man magic" when explorers with a timepiece and an almanac predicted an eclipse of the sun.

Climate change does exist and the only way to tackle it is to tax capitalism into oblivion. /s. Mitt, just run as a Democrat already, sheesh.

Great graphic!!! Love it!!

It dawned on me a few years ago, after getting a decent foundation in basic geology and paleontology: EVERYTHING that happens on earth is temporary and we have been here for less than a nanosecond, in material context.

Materially, by God's design, we are like a flea on an elephant's tail thinking we're powerful enough to predict what it's all about and where it's going, by a reading from one hair and the proper "tackling" of the elephant.

On earth, we're only along for the ride, at God's bidding. In the Christian bible (which by the way served as the moral cornerstone for our great United States of America), He has told us how we can survive and get along any time, any place. It's all right there and the American constitution was framed around it.

Bottom line from a Christian and an American standpoint -- "climate change is real, world must tackle it" mentality is vanity. Everything that happens on earth way beyond human concept, is temporary.

That's what I finally concluded!

Global warming: one of many Romney positions that is a deal-breaker.

First thing that needs to be done is move Romney into a smaller house and only 1 house. No more travel on jets, only trains or horseback.

You show us the way Mitt... what a dumb rino.

That's been my conclusion. God has it under control and we're along for the ride.

Great post! Thank you!

True. We haven’t found that perfect candidate yet - that can actually win.

I want to cry. I don’t demand a perfect candidate, I really don’t, but would it be too much to ask to find one that isn’t a drooling, uncritical, superficial, trend-following moron? In either party? Of any species? That hasn’t made a lifelong commitment to being a sphincter in a suit?

Heh, so our Republican-led Senate votes 99-1 that global warming is real.
