As he considers a third presidential campaign, Mitt Romney said Wednesday night that one of the country's biggest challenges is climate change and that global solutions are needed to combat it.
"I'm one of those Republicans who thinks we are getting warmer and that we contribute to that," he said.
The 2012 Republican presidential nominee spoke to a sold-out crowd of about 3,000 at an investment management conference. It was his second public address since privately telling potential donors two weeks ago that he's considering seeking the presidency in 2016.
Romney didn't address a possible campaign at the event, but he used his 30-minute speech and a Q&A session afterward to lay out what appeared to be a populist platform. While hitting familiar Republican points criticizing the size of the federal debt, Romney at times sounded like a Democrat, calling for President Barack Obama and other leaders in Washington to act on climate change, poverty and education.
His evolving platform comes as he works to reshape his image after consecutive presidential defeats. He spent little time talking about poverty, the middle class or climate change in a 2012 campaign in which opponents cast him as an out-of-touch millionaire. But in public and private conversations in recent weeks he has focused on poverty, perhaps above all, a dramatic shift for the former private-equity executive.

So long a Mr. Romney walked to the investment conference where he gave this speech, he should be taken seriously. Otherwise, not so much.
Of courses the climate forever changes.
Man must take action to REACT to ADAPT to where it will change to. Building more nuke plants to provide electricity to heat (or cool) and power things as everything gets either colder OR HOTTER is a good start.
If it is a bad thing, is it cause by humans?
If it is a bad thing, and caused by humans, can we fix it?
If it is a bad thing, caused by humans and fixable, how much will the fix hurt the economy and/or cost in tax dollars, and is that money better spent elsewhere?
By the old definition of climate, one generation of humans don’t live long enough to detect a change in the climate. They can detect weather patterns, which are short-lived.
Mitt 0bamaney.
” Morons.”
Nuff said
Didn’t care much for Romney in the past, but did vote for him. But this pretty much puts the exclamation point on my nonsupport for this buffoon! Take Jeb with ya and go visit with AlGore! Then we’ll have the new “Three Stooges”!
I will never vote for this loser (or any other RINO that espouses the ‘rat platform and talking points) again.
Sorry Mitt, you lost me. Give me some solid evidence first before you say its real. Going to use your Hockey Stick Graph? The Ocean rising charts? The discredited fear mongering? If its real it sould be really apparent by now. If its real—we can fix it then.
Stating it this way perverts the argument and one's perception of reality. Of course climate change is real, but "Climate Change" is (so far) just a fantasy. One may just as well state the proposition:
Gravity is real. Is it affected by human activity? Can we disprove that human activity somehow influences gravity? Probably not. But you can see how silly this type of reasoning can be.
I wonder: could clam and oyster shells have been spread on the vineyard as an amendment to adjust soil ph?
The earth quit warming in 1998. Any climate change has to do with solar activity and nothing to do with humans.
So does this mean he’s gonna bring on The Goracle as his VP guy?
All done with Mitt...
At least he isn’t pretending to be conservative this time around. Next he will probably come out supporting obamacare and gun control.
“Stating it this way perverts the argument and one’s perception of reality.”
I disagree. Stating it factually, and dispassionately blunts the emotional charge that comes with “Climate Change”. Climate change is much like gravity. It’s there, it will always be there. The climate is not static.
To deny climate change, as some do, allows the opposition to put you in the kook category.
Mitt Romney: Climate change is real, but the Constitution is not.
Politicians must know something , if they support Global Warming/Cooling it will in the long run give them MORE POWER AND CONTROL over the little people
Climate change is real and has been going since Earth was created and man cannot effect it enough to matter. It’s being used by the left as an excuse, and yes, I consider romney a leftist, to extract taxes, restrict freedom, and grow government.
The only difference between JEB! and Willard is the magic underpants.
And folks wonder why I wouldn’t vote for RINOmney.
He may be a brilliant businessman, but on the other hand, we math and physics types call our D students “future business majors”.
The F students go into political “science”, of course.
