The owner of a Birmingham, AL, Chick-fil-A is making the faith-based company proud with his selfless actions and Christian attitude. When Mark Meadows went out of his way to help a local homeless man, he never expected it would garner him national attention.
Meadows took the do unto others adage to a whole new level when a homeless man entered the Chick-fil-A store he owns and operates. The downtrodden man offered to work for a hot meal, but Meadows did him one better. He gave him a chicken sandwich and a pair of his own gloves.
A customer who witnessed the inspiring moment snapped a picture and uploaded it to Facebook with this caption:
Im a Chick-fil-A fan and have been for years. I trust the food for my son and support companies that are founded on Christian beliefs.
What I saw today just confirms why this chain is so successful God blesses His people.
My son and I were at the location on Highway 280 in Birmingham, AL when a man came in to escape the 35 degree temps and strong winds with all of his earthly possessions strapped to his back.
Most businesses would force him out, but I watched as the manager walked up to him and asked if he could do anything for him. Before the man could even answer, the manager asked if he had a pair of gloves and walked to the table at which hed been sitting and picked up his own. As he handed the man his gloves, he asked another employee to get him something to eat.
It was wonderful to see your employees being the hands and feet of Jesus, and that my son was able to witness it all. Thank you for putting your money where your mouth is.
I just learned this man is the owner and that makes it even better IMO.
Social media blew up with support over Meadows actions.
Always humble, Meadows told a local news affiliate, I just did the right thing. Im simply awe struck about all this attention.
This isnt the first time Meadows has made his mark as a good samaritan, either. IJ Review reports that last year, for instance, when the Snowpocalypse blanketed parts of Alabama with snow and stranded motorists along Highway 280, Meadows distributed chicken sandwiches and chicken biscuits free of charge to drivers stuck in their cars.
Share this feel-good story to spread the message of this Chick-fil-A owners good works!
Mrs. abb & I try to stop at Chick-Fil A when traveling. As opposed to say, McDonalds, the people that work there seem genuinely friendly and happy to see customers come in. Lately, it seems, McDonald’s has the surliest, most rude customer service I’ve ever seen.
For that, I’ll pay extra.
Really? Meadows gave from his business, and his own gloves.
Government may hand stuff out, but it is other people's money all the way.
There's a bit of difference there.
And freely giving something while expecting nothing in return is Christian.
And when they gave out free food during the storm, I bet all of those protesters against Chik-fil-A’s stand on marriage gladly accepted their food then!
did you get grilled or fried
I used to work for a grocery store when I was in graduate school. There was a homeless guy one day on our parking lot with a sign that read “Vietnam Vet - homeless will work for food”
The store manager was a retired Marine. He went out and talked to the guy. The store needed literally about 100 more people to work in it so Jimmy, the manager took an application and store uniform, a bag of personal hygiene items like shaving cream and shampoo that would allow the guy to make himself presentable. He told the guy he would, as a fellow veteran not only hire him for $3.00 over the minimum wage but but forgo the normally required polygraph and give him the bag of personal items along with so shoes to go with the uniform. All the guy had to do was to accept a job.
The homeless guy refused the offer and simply said then “Can’t you just give me $50.00?” Jimmy told him to get off the Randall’s parking lot because it was private property.
I had never really liked that store manager before that.
This sort of thing is not all that unusual. My cousin owned a restaurant and would give homeless people free meals. One time, he gave a homeless guy a free dinner, but the guy complained that the meat had too much fat in it.
Some of them are just doing it for the handout and probably have more money stashed away than you and I, if they aren’t drinking it away. They hurt the homeless that really need and want help though and that’s what is so sad.
A few years ago at work our contracted cleaning company hired a homeless man that had all of his personal belongings strapped to a bicycle and was sleeping in a tent at night. He always tied the bike to the guard shack while he was working. Our plant manager found out about his situation and offered to get him a room at a local motel and personal products that he might need to make him more comfortable. He split and nobody ever saw him again.
This manager obviously felt like this homeless person was deserving and really wanted help. Some are and do but there are a lot of them that are scam artists or mentally ill. It doesn’t take long to ferret them out if you know the questions to ask.
at the city farmers market a couple years ago I had a homeless guy come up to me asking for some money for breakfast - I said come on, no money, but I’ll buy you the biggest breakfast here....the guy said he actually wanted the money for cigs and turned it down.
“Meadows acted like the government giving a handout.”
Did Meadows tax you to pay for it?
That would be the government way.
Raytheon is a F’ed up libtard government teat sucking entity. They reward incompetance and dishonesty and couldnt run a civil aviation company to save their butts.
It’s always nice to see a story you know will make the liberals mad and anything about Chick-fil-A, other than complete closure makes them boil.
Maybe I’ll start posting stories about all the good things Knights of Columbus councils do, and it makes no difference whatsoever what religious affiliation someone may be. From handing out thousands of coats each winter to the needy, repairing houses for Habitant for Humanity, to cutting wood and giving it away to the needy, to collecting thousands of pounds of groceries all through the year and giving it the needy. Or volunteering hundreds of hours when a disaster of any type hits. And all the fund drives throughout the year to raise money for charities and hospitals, like the Shiners, and St. Jude Hospital for Children. Or the countless visits to VA hospitals, volunteering to help veterans in need. I could go on and on. “The Knights of Columbus is the strong right arm of the church” ~ Pope John Paul II
In service to One,
In service to all.
If all of America followed this example we would be a much better country.
Pray America is waking
Gaytheon ran Chick-fil-A out of their facilities about two years ago. -I fixed it for you.
It's interesting you say that. I see the situation the opposite way.
Years ago the churches took care of the poor. The government began to take on that responsibility during the depression. The churches supported the government takeover.
As the government's role increased, the number of poor increased. Those looking for handouts joined the poor so we now have that 47% on the dole and half the school children getting free lunch.
I’m near Tacoma. They’re opening one just to the north of Tacoma Mall.
You misunderstood my post.
Homeless dude WANTED to work for a meal.
Meadows, instead of giving the homeless man a minor job, gave him free food. Homeless did not have to work for it although he wanted to. This is where meadows acted like the government.
Meadows could have had him sweep or mop the floor, take out the trash or something that would have made the man happy to have earned his meal.
Also, nowhere is there stated who or how the meal was paid for. Did meadows pay for the meal at the cash register or did he just grab one? Easy to give away something when it isn’t yours.
grilled
sorry, fried. it had a skin on it. it was fried.
Yes. The first major U.S. corporation to give benefits to same sex partners.
Very true. It was a very sad state of affairs when Raytheon absorbed Hughes, G.D. And T.I. defense.
