I met a guy who had worked there in programming for two years. He said when he got transferred he thought he was going to love it. But after being there for about six months he noticed that there was no inner spirit, no enthusiasm for anything. He said he first noticed there was no humor injected into conversations or circumstances. Then, he like the author, became aware of the boring sameness of everything and everyone.
I think those Danish girls would perk up the minute I showed up there. They would laugh with and love their Ol’ Pappy.
Everybody on the same level. No hope to advance. Just getting by. No one to be envious of, no one to emulate. No heroes, no stars. Yep. That’s utopia!
I know that its in Sweden and not Denmark but has anyone watched any of the series Wallander with Kenneth Branagh? I watched a few episodes since I like his acting but it was too depressing. The entire country seemed to be grey and dark and full of muslims. Could just be the producer but I have no desire to go to any countries in northern Europe.
They do look alike.
Now, that, I did not know.
Copenhagen is beautiful, great to visit in the summertime. But Denmark is flat, and expensive. It is possible to get ahead there, but they say for every Dane working, there are two on his back.
People who wanted a Socialist utopia in the USA should have been forced to live in a Socialist country for a year before deciding to destroy this once great country.
[ Some 5% of Danish men have had sex with an animal. ]
How many of those are recent immigrants....
Survey sez....
Over 50%!
(That is my guess)
Nyhavn is beautiful. There's the house that Hans Christian lived in....
Things have apparently changed much for the worse in Denmark since the last time I was there. It used to be the one part of Scandinavia where people did have a sense of humor and a fun loving nature (at least in comparison with the sullen Swedes and morbid Norwegians). The Netflix series “Lillehammer” is a pretty entertaining presentation of Scandinavian Social Welfare Statism meets All American Jersey Mafia, or how would a (literal) member of “The Sopranos” cast deal with the delicate sensibilities of today’s pathetic descendants of the Vikings.
Well,you know, those winters.....
But even they were getting fed up with the parasitic muslimes who were working the system and trashing everything they touched. And well they should be. The system is not sustainable as it is.
I worked at an international company and when we had socialist State visitors to the US they came alive. When we went there, it was gray and boring. Outside of drinking, not much fun at all. Socialism sucks the life out of people.
Stationed in Norway for 4 years in the late 80s. Taxes were unbelievable. One car was OK, but they’d charge 100% taxes on a second car. They didn’t want people eating beef, so they heavily taxed it. A $3 (21 kroner) cut would be $10 (70 kroner). They also didn’t want people drinking, so they taxed booze heavily, as in several hundred percent. They’d take the overnight ferries to Denmark just to hit the Duty Free and pass out in the corridors.
I had a neighbor in the US who was very Danish, but he had a great sense of humor and laughed a great deal.
Denmark is only 4% Muslim. Where do they find that extra 1%?
“Some 5% of Danish men have had sex with an animal.”
They call it “Humpin’ de Herring”.
Do you know how to tell a Swedish extrovert?
When he talks to you, he looks at your shoes.
