Whoever runs for the Republican leadership of the U.S. House on Tuesday must communicate on paper how Congress is going to lead on the big issues. The American people elected us to solve trillion-dollar problems, not to kick the can down the road with only symbolic votes. My district expects any leader to clearly outline bold solutions on the major issues of our day, such as:
· How he or she will defend the Constitution and challenge President Obamas repeated illegal overreach into areas of congressional authority, particularly his unconstitutional amnesty by presidential decree;
· How he will end Washingtons out-of-control spending and debt addiction that is mortgaging our childrens future and promises to cripple our economy within the next decade;
· How he will defund Obamacare to stop skyrocketing insurance premiums on struggling families as well as the destruction of jobs its causing;
· How he will stop excessive regulations like the EPAs overregulation of farms and small businesses regulations that have made it prohibitively expensive to run a business and create jobs.
These are not just my priorities. These are the priorities that the American people expressed loudly and clearly on November 4th. And these need to be the priorities of the leaders of this next Congress.

Handling trillion dollar problems is not on Bohner’s resume.
I could honestly give a dead rat’s arsche for why Boehnor and the establishment care not for addressing these and many more problems. Their agenda is not about doing the tough things but instead about doing as much for them personally.
All we need is people like David Brat and Ted Cruz to do what is tough and not insane.
Minor belt tightening like wiping out the government class dependencies. Major tax relief in the way of wiping out capital gains, reducing or even eliminating corporate income tax, especially on small business. Remove the EPA, DEA and DOE. Anything to get our taxes back into State Houses and not go directly to DC to be laundered.
Put just these into play and let free enterprise flourish with the expansion it allows, especially in the manufacturing sector, which in turn creates jobs, which in turn creates personal taxable revenue combined with a total rewrite of the IRS to be a sales tax recipient for the Treasury.
Listen to David Brat more, your wizards of smart less and we can topple the establishment party just as he toppled the past House Majority Leader with only spending $100,000 total for his campaign.
Don’t count chickens.
There are at least 3 congressmen with hats in the ring
Brat hit it on the nose. I am sick of “we’ve got a plan.”
I don’t want to hear about the President’s veto power which signifies surrender.
What are you going to do?
How are you going to do it?
Are you willing to fight?
Will you use every tool at your disposal, even the most obscure?
Right. “Gertah”. I plum forgot about him. Thanks.
Have a Blessed 2015.
Good point.
Yes!
He’s both.
You are preaching to the choir. Realistically, I am not optimistic anything will change much in DC. Boehner will be re-elected and can will be kicked further down the road.
Seems like it is heading in the right direction...
The key is at least getting it to a second vote... Boehner will politically not be able to hang on if it goes past that first vote...
I heard a rumor that there is a GOP establishment guy from Florida that might put his name in the ring for the job after that first vote, and he may very well get it...
The noble effort by Goehmert and Yoho is laudable, but I have a distinct feeling they know their chances are slim, just enough to get it past the initial vote... Then the schmup patrol can come in and safely get another candidate for consideration...
Taking over a national party is a long process that starts in State legislatures. We should lose neither patience, persistence, nor audacity.
One of the changes the GOP put into place is dynamic scoring. With that you could set up a scenario in which the economy grew faster than government with government over time falling to below its recent history as 19% of GDP.
Even better, we need to use the Commerce Clause to kill all the deadly local, county and state regulation. If a guy’s wheat grown on his own farm for his own use is ‘in commerce’ then so are all those regs.
Start with the CA chicken law and roll on from there.
The Federal Gov’t makes quite a bit of money off National Forest land that is logged, mined, etc. True, that land could be sold, but the logging (for example) is a source of sustained income. Especially in the western US, large tracts of land perhaps could be sold (perhaps with the Gov’t retaining mineral rights). It should be looked at on a case by case basis. Selling “all” would be silly.
Also, many National Forest lands are recreational areas that bring in money. Others provide recreational opportunities, or preserve historic areas and sites, that otherwise would not exist.
All in all I don’t know how much of this land actually should be sold. But, say, we sell half of it. The politicians will spend the proceeds gleefully, and then where are we at?
What ticks me off is that land is still being purchased, set aside, etc. - when we are broke otherwise.
IMO, what we really need is an amendment that the Gov’t (Federal, State, and Local, in total) can only spend 10% of GDP plus any monies needed for active combat missions. In addition, the Feds should not be permitted to raid Social Security, and must balance the budget, except perhaps for War Bonds if needed.
