WASHINGTON, DC— Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01) released the following statement today regarding his decision to buck the status quo and challenge John Boehner in the race for House Speaker:
“After the November elections gave Republicans control of the Senate, voters made clear they wanted change. There have been numerous examples of problematic Republican leadership, but we were hopeful our leaders got the voters’ message. However, after our Speaker forced through the CRomnibus by passing it with Democratic votes and without time to read it, it seemed clear that we needed new leadership. There had been much discussion. But, until yesterday, no one had stepped up.
I applaud my friend Rep. Ted Yoho for putting his name forward as an alternative to the status quo. Ted is a good man for whom I could vote, but I have heard from many supporters and also friends in Congress who have urged me to put forward my name for Speaker as well to increase our chances of change. That is why I am also offering my name as a candidate for Speaker.
There is false information being floated that any Republican candidates in addition to the current Speaker will split the vote and give the Speaker's gavel to Congresswoman Pelosi. This is nothing but a scare tactic to keep the current regime in power.
As long as Republicans vote for an adult American citizen for Speaker, no Democrat can win. Only if 59 Republicans voted “Present” would there be a chance for a Democrat to win.
To win the Speaker’s race, an adult American citizen has to get a clear majority of all Members of Congress on the House floor voting for an eligible person. Voting “Present” simply reduces the number of votes required to win a majority. If no one wins a majority on the first ballot, then we go to a second vote, then a third, until someone gets a majority.
At this point, the Speaker’s election is not about a particular candidate. It is about whether we keep the status quo or make the change the country demands. I am putting forward my name for consideration as Speaker and hope that with a new Speaker, be that me or someone else, we can fight for the ideals and principles that the voters wanted when they elected us in November.”
Congressman Gohmert is the Vice Chair of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security. Prior to being elected to serve in Congress, Louie was elected to three terms as District Judge in Smith County, Texas. He was appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to complete a term as Chief Justice of the 12th Court of Appeals.
Pelosi isn’t assured she will still be in charge.
I was thinking that on the first votes Dems would not enter and vote for Boner and he would be forced to get his votes from his caucus.

Factor in new Tea party people some who won with Sarah Palins
backing and its possible Louie can get in.

You should list the NAMES/numbers of all incoming Republican Reps. that way even members ~not~ on your list: WE COULD PUT THE FEAR OF GOD IN THEM, and possibly change some minds for Pushing RINO Whino Boehner as Speaker!
Doesn’t offend me in the slightest...Yoho, and Louie should be giving the current Speaker the heebee jeebees...Or at least a good case of heartburn...
Like someone else posted here, the discussion on talk radio tomorrow will be very important, and every single one of those schmupatellies up there in D.C. ought to pay very close attention tomorrow to that discussion...

Also check the sites you go to and see if they have this announcement. I see Breitbart has it, Orly Taitz has it, but there are a lot of sites that need to put something up. We need to target them too. Send them a post of Louie's announcement from his house site. They might be more likely to write up a post if they don't have to credit a competitor.

Gohmert is good. He fills in for Hannity on the radio, and knows how to talk.
surly the ruling elite and the DC establishment will first rely on the media to trash anyone whom they fear might disrupt their power. If that doesn’t do it they always have their surreptitious hit squads like the CIA, the FBI and organized crime aka the mob.
That's why I was surprised when Hannity pushed Trey Gowdy who didn't even want it. Hopefully, he goes all out for Louie.
better late than never. This is what I have been waiting for! Until there is a viable alternative that is running we will be stuck with Boehner. Is it possible at this late date to line up enough support? dunno
Texans, call/write Kevin Brady (R), TX. first thing in the a.m. and keep-r-goin till the vote. Speaking to one of his aids, she indicated she was an atty, she sang Boehner’s praises over and over. I told her I respectfully disagree in that Boehner was not a conservative leader and urged Kevin Brady to vote against omnibus....Kevin helped give Obozo 1.1 TTTrillion $.
Way to go Kevin.

An action of that type would indicate honor, this looser can’t even slur the word much less practice it.
Suh-weet. Now we need conservative, prominent talking heads to endorse him. Not because he needs it but because it would create an organized effort and establish momentum.

The arm twisting, threatening, cajoling and maneuvering to ensure Boehner remained in charge happened the DAY BEFORE the elections even took place.
The day after, it was a full-blown putsch to intimidate anyone in the GOP from even thinking about replacing him as speaker.
I am not holding my breath that Gohmert can overcome the corrupt oligarchy that now rules us and enough reps are willing to risk their seats and committee assignments to challenge Obama’s best friend in the House.
The good thing is the enemedia may not have enough time to circle the wagons around Boehner but it would not be a big surprise if they attempted to do so.
Much of our media is just as corrupt as many running our government these days. I hope I live to see the day of tribunals for ALL the corruption going on against the American people and our Constitution.

I just emailed my guy Rohrabacher, urging him to vote for Gohmert.
If Boehner gets dumped from the Speaker position he’ll have more time for his booze, his golf outings with Obola and shopping for tissues in preparation of the next cry-fest.
