Republicans rising up to remove Boehner

Congressman Louis Gohmert (R-TX) appeared on Fox News' "Fox and Friends" Sunday morning to announce that he is officially challenging House Speaker John Boehner for leadership of the party. Gohmert told Tucker Carlson that Boehner has repeatedly broken core promises to the American people and stabbed the conservative movement in the back at every turn.

Defying "establishment people" who defend Boehner's unmistakably left-wing RINO track record, Gohmert threw his hat in the ring and declared that it "is time for a change." He cited recent polls showing that 60% of Republicans want Boehner removed immediately, and that many Republicans are looking to abandon the party altogether at this point.

Gohmert looked into the camera and stated his message to Boehner: "You deceived us when you went to Obama and Pelosi to get your votes for the Cromnibus. You said you'd fight amnesty tooth-and-nail. You didn't. You funded it." Conservatives across the board have been repeatedly alienated and betrayed by the House Speaker as he surrendered on every major policy fight, aided relentless Democrat attacks on the Constitution, and declared war on the mainstream Tea Party movement.

This oath-breaking leftist abandonment of founding GOP principles has prompted a fierce backlash with conservatives and the creation of numerous "Dump Boehner" groups, as well as several challengers now running against him for Speaker. Oklahoma's Jim Bridestine, Kentucky's Thomas Massie, and Florida's Ted Yoho have all stepped up to replace the wildly unpopular liberal Republican.

Just emailed my congressman asking him to support Rep Louie Gohmert.

If I thought that my congresscritter could read I'd do that too but SHE is a far left liberal dumbocrat.

“I wonder if Boehner, Gohmert and others are willing to chance a return of Pelosi?”

Boehner already gave up everything that he promised to stop. We can only get Pelosi if the RINOs do it for spite. Only if enough of the RINOs vote ‘present’ can she get elected.

If Boehner wins and then takes Congressman Bridenstine off the House Armed Services Committee, it will be time for taking severe political action.

I wonder if Boehner, Gohmert and others are willing to chance a return of Pelosi? This may be a King Solomon moment

Not possible, the R' NOMINATE one person and the D' another. What we are asking for is for the R's to NOMINATE someone other then the weepy Boner for the vote for speaker.

“I believe that Boehner will either win big or lose big.”

Why would Pelosi’s caucus vote against Boehner? He supports their agenda. I keep hearing we need 29 votes? Think what we really need is 129. If we can get more than 50% of Republicans to vote against Boehner, he will have to step down.

Where this will get interesting is which congress critters from the Texas delegation will go against one of their own.

My prediction is that Boner will win with some Demoncrats voting for him. The press will herald that Boner is the first speaker elected with bipartisan support.

“Game on. Hope the 29’ers win this Tuesday.”

Let’s say it is 29, which it isn’t. Texas has 24 Republicans in their delegation. Minus Gomert and that is 23. Yoho and Bridenstine makes 25. Which means they would need 4.

How is that for a positive spin?

He would/will make a great Speaker, but I support ex-Judge Gohmert.

You are confusing honor and integrity with the behavior of the current crop of politicians. It’s all about them, and for most of them, facing the wrath of Boehner is far more daunting than facing their constituents. Most of their constituents will neither know or care, they only have to deal with those crazy conservative zealots and in most districts, they are just a distraction.

However, nothing on this planet is worse than a Democrat.

I agree, 29 votes won’t get it done. Win big or lose big, and right now I think that it’s pretty clear that the election in the House will mirror the result in the Republican caucus, Boehner will be elected Speaker by a pretty wide margin.

It either/or situation. If Boner is the R nominee for SOTH then he will win vote on the house floor. The trick is to get some else as the R nominee. Do you get it? It is a 2 step process, first the nominees get selected by each party then the vote on the floor. In essence the nominee is the winner from the majority party, the vote on the floor is perfunctory.

Better everyone rally around one if there’s any chance to get rid of Boehner.
That is not essential. Because the Speaker of the House has to win a majority of those voting, it is only necessary that all opposing Republicans vote for someone other than Boehner (or Pelosi). If all Representatives vote, it takes 218 to elect Boehner, or anyone else.

If Boehner doesn’t win the first ballot, he drops out - because if he couldn’t bully his way to a first-ballot victory starting where he was, his influence only goes down in subsequent ballots.

If House Dems were chess players instead of riot inciters, they’d provide the winning margin for Boehner. The sycophant Dem press would hail them as “moderates reaching across the aisle” setting up for 2016, and Boehner would owe them.

I disagree. When we campaign on the issues, constitutional conservatives win....we just did, in a landslide. Our enemy is from within, with Boehner and the other Chamber of Commerce sellouts backstabbing us. Would we be any worse off with Nancy Pelosi as speaker? She doesn't pretend to agree with our principles....we know where she's at.

It's much easier to defeat a clearly defined enemy. It's the traitors from within that are destroying any chance we had of saving the US.

If Bohner is not the R nominee then the D’s will NOT get a chance to vote for him. Get it?

"What we are asking for is for the R's to NOMINATE someone other then the weepy Boner for the vote for speaker."

That vote was last year, and Boehner won it. The upcoming vote includes all of the House and it is for the selection of the Speaker.

By the way, does anyone know when this vote is scheduled? Monday?

John Boehner & Mitch McConnell have to go.
