Rep. Ted Yoho Joins Movement Against Boehner, Offers Himself As Potential Alternative
Breitbart.com ^ | 1/3/15 | Matthew Boyle

Posted on 01/03/2015 6:01:25 PM PST by cotton1706

Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) says he will vote against House Speaker John Boehner’s re-election. Further, Yoho is the first GOP member of the House of Representatives to announce he is willing to stand up as an alternative candidate to Boehner if no other alternatives emerge. Yoho joins Reps. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) in announcing he will not be voting for Boehner on Tuesday.

“I ran for Congress in 2012 because I had had enough,” Yoho said in announcing his public opposition to Boehner. “Enough of career politicians, enough of political gamesmanship, and enough of the lack of leadership in Washington. As we enter 2015, we are faced with overwhelming challenges. However, the dawn of 2015 also promises unlimited potential and the opportunity to begin rebuilding America.”

Yoho also said in his statement that he would be willing to stand up as a potential alternative candidate to Boehner, if members feel they need to vote for someone other than Boehner even though the Congressional Research Service report detailing speakership elections says there is no need for an alternative. Technically, Republicans need just 29 GOP votes for someone other than Boehner as Speaker on the first ballot—at which point the vote would be kicked off to a second or third or fourth ballot. If Boehner is not re-elected swiftly on the first ballot, it is likely that shortly thereafter an alternative would emerge.

In a news release, Rep. Bridenstine applauded Yoho’s actions. “Congressman Ted Yoho is a courageous leader. I applaud and respect him for standing up to offer an alternative to the status quo,” the Oklahoma Republican announced.

27 more votes needed. Let’s see who joins the party, turning a drip into a flood.

Glad to see another person speaking out against bohner. I didn’t read any threads about the hundreds of rallys across the US that were supposed to have happened today with the message of getting rid of Bohner. Did this happen?

RE:”No need for an alternative, LMAO.”

Seems to have been the talk radio conventional wisdom plan for while.

In this case it definitely wont work.

Same with GOP primaries. No alternative=no chance of winning.

I disagree. I beleive the rinos would prefer Pelosi over a conservative. They will NEVER vote for a conservative. They’ll Pelosi have it then go around blaming the conservatives.

If he becomes Speaker with Dem votes, the charade of the Uniparty will be over. I don’t think he wants to open that particular Pandora’s Box.

It's only hanging on by tatters:

  1. the ObamaCare debacle certainly indicated the uniparty
(i.e. letting the Democrats pass it, then Republicans refusing to not fund it)
  2. Fast & Furious
(ATF gunrunning, violating treaties at the very least; Republicans make a show of the Democrats "blocking" them... but do nothing to press the issue.)
  3. IRS Political Targeting
(Again, Republicans make a show of the Democrats "blocking" them... but do nothing to press the issue.)
  4. NSA and domestic-espionage
(Odd split: both republican and democrats join together in defending and supporting the practice.)
  5. Border-Security in-general
(The Republicans rattle sabers yelling build a fence to appease their base... but do nothing to press the issue, in effect allowing the Democrats to set the policy.)
  6. Amnesty (specifically)
(Even before November the Republican party was showing how much they want it… the only reason they're not openly pushing is because their base actually believes that they're for border security!)
  7. National Debt
(Republicans talk and talk about fiscal responsibility… yet they are all fine passing bills funding all of the federal government.)
  8. Confiscation and Redistribution
(The Republican party supports the War on Drugs, and especially Civil Asset Forfeiture, which is government confiscation; same as the radical Democrat.)
In short, there really isn't much left to distinguish the two parties apart other than [perhaps] the rhetoric they use to address their people.

I have no idea who he supports. If he stays more than a few terms he’ll become one of them.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We pillage plunder, we rifle and loot.
Drink up me hearties, yo ho.
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot.
Drink up me hearties, yo ho.

Yo ho, ho ho, a pirate's life for me.
We extort and pilfer, we filch and sack.
Drink up me hearties, yo ho.
Maraud and embezzle and even highjack.
Drink up me hearties, yo ho.

Yo ho, ho ho, a pirate's life for me.
We kindle and char and in flame and ignite.
Drink up me hearties, yo ho.
We burn up the city, we're really a fright.
Drink up me hearties, yo ho.

We're rascals and scoundrels, we're villians and knaves.
Drink up me hearties, yo ho.
We're devils and black sheep, we're really bad eggs.
Drink up me hearties, yo ho.

We're beggars and blighters and ne'er do-well cads,
Drink up me hearties, yo ho.
Aye, but we're loved by our mommies and dads,
Drink up me hearties, yo ho.

Yo ho, ho ho, a pirate's life for me.
Yo ho, ho ho, a pirate's life for me! Yo ho!

I believe the rinos would prefer Pelosi over a conservative.

Sad, I thought it was kind of unreal to accuse RINOs of opposing the tea party more than the Democrat party - but it is now the truth. Imagine how low down this is - they would rather be popular in DC than love the country or honor their constituents! If you have a RINO rep, then reason with their staffers how corrupt they are to work for a man who conspires against the Constitution - i.e. all who voted against the Ted Cruz Constitutional point of order. Keep them on the phone until they hangup on you.
