'Cancer is the best way to die, according to a former editor of The British Medical Journal.
Richard Smith, who is chairman of the board of directors of medical smartphone app Patients Know Best, believes the opportunity to reflect on life before it ends is important.
In an article published in The BMJ, the 62-year-old wrote that while most people tell him they would prefer a sudden death, he thinks that is very hard on the families of the deceased.'

Maybe that’s good for YOU. I got other ideas!
What a pompous ass this Richard Smith.
I was told by a Brit that when you go to hospital and do not have a loud advocate who will speak up for you, you will be likely put in a back room and ignored. You might be lucky to receive nourishment and pain medication. He told me that it is common knowledge, so people work to make sure they have an advocate.
An oncologist advertising for work!!
” He told me that it is common knowledge, so people work to make sure they have an advocate.”

I think that’s even true to a certain extent in the USA.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
.
Tell that to my father..who died in 1998 of colon cancer..suffered a miserable death..no one who has ever had cancer would say something as stupid as this
What variety of deaths has he personally experienced.
In Great Britain, it is a known reality.
may I say as a former patient on a children’s cancer ward this man is a freaking idiot
My wife was literally the girl-next-door who lost her battle to breast cancer at 28.
Yea, cancer is a joyous gift.
The best way to die is embodied in my family motto.
DIE SPITTING BLOOD!
IOW Never surrender!
Hey, Richard Smith, you first!
“medical expert”
Human Failure
“Yeh I know my sister sure loved it. And my Dad. It really did my heart good to watch the way they went.”
I had the same “experience,” only you would need to add in my mother as well. These “medical professionals” are just a bunch of sick bastards! The truth is, there isn’t a good way to die, just some ways are a little easier than others.
Ping.
To Richard Smith: Tell that to my mother and many others, you eee-diot! I swear there must be a hole to a weird, parallel dimension, I wonder where these bungholes come from.
Intractable pain is such a joyous experience.
The man is a moron.
Intractable pain is such a joyous experience.
The man is a moron.
SIL, 36, breast cancer vs. my dad at 63, heart attack working cattle.
The way my dad went was the best. True, we didn’t get to say our goodbyes. But we didn’t watch him suffer. He didn’t suffer. He was doing what he loved to the moment he passed.
For those that have watched a loved one die fighting cancer, how can someone say it is a better way to “die” just because you get a bit more time to say your goodbyes.
How about having your affairs in order all along.
