Fox News anchor Sean Hannity, also a nationally syndicated radio host, is tripling down on his calls to demand new blood in House GOP leadership.
In the wake of Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) rebuffing his call to run against Speaker John Boehner after the white supremacy scandal that has rocked Boehners ally, House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, Hannity is calling on every Republican member of the House of Representatives to reconsider whether Boehner is in fact an effective leader.
Every Republican member needs to ask themselves if John Boehner is really the best person to lead the conservative movement at this important time in history, Hannity said in an email to Breitbart News. Are they voting for him as a leader or for the Committee assignments they have been promised? The American people expect and deserve bold and dynamic and inspiring leaders. The next 2 years are critical for the country.
Hannity said that if Republicans return to conservative principles by rejecting Boehner and installing a replacement, they will be rewarded with political victories in 2016s crucial presidential election.
~~snip~~
Hannity also called on House Financial Services Committee chairman Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) to present himself as a challenger to Boehner. Hensarling, a former chairman of the Republican Study Committee and a Texas conservative with establishment credentials, has long been talked about as a potential Boehner opponent...

What the hell are you talking about? Do you not know humor? Would anybody in their right minds chastise the boss? Please, get a life.
When is the vote? I thought the vote took place with the outgoing (past tense) Congress... meaning- Boehner got a life line for 1-2 years. Please tell me there is a Santa Claus?
Happy New Year to all.
Boehner must go.
Hey- take a CHILL pill... for crying out loud! I responded with humor. Do you not seek this engagement... thus speaketh freepersup?
Didn’t come across that way.
Gee, you must be Jim’s alter ego.
I agree with your New Year’s resolution 100%, Jim!
Boehner has GOT to go so we can stop Obama!
And he can take McTurtle with him.
Perhaps that is why I so “despise” cyber communications. ;)
That was the GOP caucus voting. But the Speaker can't actually be elected until the entire House is seated. So, there has to be at least one more vote -- this one involving the whole House.
Given that some resistance has been aired, it is conceivable that the GOP caucus might hold another vote before the House vote. I doubt Boehner would want to be embarrassed in public, so some kind of "test of strength" vote is likely to be held in the caucus.
Gotta agree with that. I don't think I've ever seen Sean put his money where his mouth is, quite like this. He just earned some points with me.
THAT is the highest compliment one could pay an old bloke of my character or nature. Nodding head in agreement. Smiling from ear to ear. Say ol’ chap_ I’d be proud to hug a fox hole with ya’! I’m really not (by the way) that old...
You should run for Speaker, Jim Robinson.
I am pretty sure, the Speaker does not have to be an elected House Rep.
Hannity is getting it right. The party has the means to send out a backlash to Speaker Boehner for tying the hands of the new Congress with Cromnibus.
Wow, Hannity actually said something constructive? Usually he just whines and rants about the RATS.
Is that how circumcision is practiced?
Ouch.
They have to hold an official count and and get 218+ votes with the membership. The leadership tried to grease the skids last november post-election, but it isn’t official yet. I’m not sure whether this happens Monday or over the weekend. Normally each party caucuses, settles on its candidate, and the vote goes down strictly by party, but that may not happen this time. If the rats all vote normally for Pelosi and 30 conservatives merely abstain Boner is denied a win. In many years the ‘majority’ party would adjurn to caucus to find an acceptable compromise candidate while the ‘minority’ party sat back and smirked. But I’m not certain Boner will accept defeat gracefully nor am I certain the rats wouldn’t offer a lifeline. TX legislature kept a RINO as speaker with Rat votes IIRC. I’m not sure how it would all play out. There would have to be at least 30 RINOs willing to be picking the speaker with open Democratic support if there were enough conservatives to block a purely GOP pick. Are there enough RINOs willing to come that far out of their closet to save Boner, or would they rather try to sneak one of their by as Boner’s replacement? It would certainly become interesting and I would not count on these votes being forgotten, not even by the MSM. It would be too juicy not to cover it.
Those contemplating change here may want to review what happened after Newt resigned as speaker after nearly losing the GOP majority in the ‘98 elections. It was said by all Bob Livingston was going to be Speaker... until Larry Flynt took him out. Dick Armey was next in line as majority leader, but passed, as did the whip Tom Delay. Dennis Hastert as picked as someone all could accept, but not as anyone who could have been predicted. Delay later was speaker, and a decent one, until rat shysters took him down. If Boner falls it would become... interesting. Those pushing for his removal DON’T have to have a replacement beforehand, just they don’t require an Obamacare replacement to vote it out. Requiring such up front is a false card tending to support the GOPe. There WILL be people interested in taking the job with large enough egos to think they can do it, likely several such. The caucus will sort them out. Although they’d best be thinking of contingencies.
Boehner is going down.
I don’t know what in the world is going on with Hannity, but he’s got my attention. He certainly isn’t on Christmas vacation. Very interesting.
