The Supreme Court is poised for a blockbuster year in 2015and the list of high-profile cases could keep growing.
Already, the Court is set to rule in a case that threatens to wreak havoc on Obamacare. The justices are also considering questions of religious freedom, free speech, and limits on political fundraising.
That mix of cases poses big risks for liberals, who were caught off guard by the Court's enthusiasm for another high-stakes Obamacare battle. And under Chief Justice John Roberts, the Court has steadily chipped away at campaign-finance limits.
But Republican governors and social conservatives also have a lot on the line: As soon as the justices return from their holiday break, they'll have to decide whether to take up same-sex marriage once againa step many legal observers believe the Court will simply have to take, and one that could clear the way for same-sex couples to legally marry in every state.
Here are the highest-profile issues the Court will likely tackle just in the first six months of 2015, before the current term ends around the end of June.
Obamacare
The justices will hear oral arguments March 4 in a lawsuit that threatens to cripple the health care law, just three years after Chief Justice John Roberts helped save it. This time, the challengers want the Court to invalidate the law's premium subsidies in states that didn't set up their own insurance exchanges. Most states didn't establish their own exchanges, and more than 80 percent of enrollees are getting subsidiesso a win for the challengers here would likely make insurance unaffordable for about 5 million people and could make insurance markets unstable in most of the country.

Roberts will ALWAYS support comrade obamatollah on CommieCare.
ALWAYS.
And on a host of other things.
I think the bastard has been bought by Obama.
Liberals have nothing to fear from this court - America needs to fear.
Stupid article.
We (humanity) need a MIRACLE!
I doubt the left has much of anything to fear from SCOTUS and besides, the Obama government and the left will ignore anything they don’t agree with.
I truly believe GWB knew Roberts was flawed and could be blackmailed.
Considering the extensive background check, GWB knew and was THE reason he was appointed and then quickly made Chief Justice.
GWB was a traitor to America on multiple issues.
One more thing.
Campaign finance reform actually HELPED us.
Most uber-rich are LIBERALS.
MOST corporations are liberal, OR, at the very LEAST, contribute HEAVILY to incumbents, i.e., liberal Democrats and Establishment Republicans. They support one-worldism and crony capitalism.
How the heck does THAT help US???
Liberals definitely have nothing to fear from the court taking up homosexual.marriage again.
The court already forced homosexual marriage on many states by allowing the lifting of stays of court orders which had blocked same sex marriage from happening. There’s no way the court is now going to roll back the momentum on homosexual marriage and invalidate it in all those states.
Either
a
Either a status quo of 30,plus states with legal homosexual marriage will result from another action by the Supreme Court , or else it will finally be forced on all 50 states. No way do liberals have something to fear on this issue.
>> the challengers want the Court to invalidate the law’s premium subsidies in states that didn’t set up their own insurance exchanges.
The law does not provide premium subsides in states without state exchanges, the IRS has illegally given subsides. That is what is being challenged.
Indeed. At this point, nothing less will get people to actually learn the law. After all, what does it matter if people are actually free, if they don't know it? Even worse, if they don't WANT to know it? I guess the lesson is to never underestimate the power of denial. If America goes down, it won't be bullets that did it - it will be the comfy chair.
One Stone, Two Powers: How Chief Justice Roberts Saved America
Well, um, he delayed things a little, I suppose, because of Iraq and Afghanistan.
But, in 2005, we did get the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America for our efforts at ‘unity.’ Why he signaled that the US is a sovereign nation at some point late in his Presidency is a bit of a mystery, as the SPP in essence paves the way for an NAU.
Frankly, Bush Justices Souter, Kennedy and Thomas have already given away the store. With Obama’s wide open border policy there’s a slim chance for any Republican President ,except maybe, another Bush or (Katie bar the door) Rand Paul, to send Justices to the Republican Senate for confirmation. To make things worst even though the ‘Pubs swept the state legislatures, the federal judiciary has been packed with Bush, Clinton and Obama far left judges and there is little hope of ever even going back to the center.
I look for nothing from the Court that would restore the damage it has done to America.
What I don't understand is when that Gruber guy was getting Obamacare manufactured, he said that they expressly worked so that it would not be considered a tax. As if it were considered a tax that it would somehow have disastrous consequences for their work.
I don't get it. If it is a tax and the Obama administration worked hard for it to not be considered a tax, then what is the deal with Roberts calling it out as a tax?
Tis a quandry.
Obamacare
Same-sex marriage equality
Religious freedom
Freedom of speech
Is this a joke? The SCOTUS has handed the Left one victory after another, most recently upholding SSM rulings against state laws, and mandating Arizona issue licenses to illegals under Obama’s unconstitutional DACA amnesty decree. The SCOTUS is merely a Progressive tool. Article V is the only way.
Bambi will fire all nine justices if they dared to circumvent any of his “laws”.
Anyone dare to stand up to him? No one has so far.
I don't believe Roberts has been blackmailed. I think he is another Souter who is actually liberal. Maybe GWB knew and is in on it, or Roberts deceived him. The confirmations of both justices were similar. Both were quite coy about how they might rule on hypothetical cases. The joke turned out to be on both Bushes.
AH!.. an active Supreme Court..... UNLESS..... it’s diversion..
Clue: “the enemy in is the camp”..
