Liberals everywhere were outraged this week after Rush Limbaugh said a black man playing James Bond would be “ridiculous.” The comments were made on Tuesday in regard to leaked Sony emails that revealed that CEO Amy Paschal wanted the black actor Idris Elba to play James Bond. Rush, however, wasn’t having any of it. “James Bond is a total concept put together by Ian Fleming. He was white and Scottish. Period. That is who James Bond is, was,” the conservative radio show host said. “But now [they are] suggesting that the next James Bond should be Idris Elba, a black Briton, rather than a white from Scotland.” “That’s not who James Bond is and I know it’s racist to probably point this out,” he added. Liberals everywhere are outraged by these “racist” remarks, but what do you think about it? Sound off in the comments below!

I was at target trying to find the child (sister?) barbie doll, the normal child one, that looked like my Latino Irish (adopted genes) daughter, and all I found were blonde ones with light eyes. She is very aware of her coloring and I wanted a nice Latino looking one and they had so much Caucasian! They didn’t have a single african style one either.
Lots of “James Bond” movies are very distant relations to the novels, if that.
They are “updated” to a degree that makes the idea of continuity or faithfulness to Flemings concept a moot point, as several have mentioned already.
If “James Bond” is supposed to be some sort of modern, as opposed to a late 60s, fantasy secret agent, then he could very well be black.
Flemings original conception was substantially off even in his day, realistically speaking. Secret agents are secret, they don’t act like commandoes, they don’t work alone, what they really do is boring. In the 40s-60s also most would have been Central or Eastern European. A Scottish ex-Naval officer would have stuck out in Liepzig, Prague or Budapest almost as much as a black man.
Sure there was, they just called them tax payers instead of slaves, to fool them into thinking they are free, still do.
That would be a fun idea for a movie!

Other than the fact that his creator, Ian Fleming, made him a white Scotsman. That's who he is.
A black James Bond is as miscast as a white Shaft. Or a male Miss Marple.
To interject a racist component into it is, well, just silly.
The next time they make a movie about anything in the New Testament, they should have a female play Jesus...it’s way past time.

The fact is, Ian Fleming isn’t around to defend himself and his concepts from people who would butcher it even further than it has been.

While GWTW is fictional, there were no black plantation owners to speak of, much less ones that owned white slaves.

It is called ACCULTURATION. It takes a long time. Do you believe that Obama’s amnesty automatically makes the illegals American? As for acculturation, look at Obama. That is part of his problem. He was never acculturated. He doesn’t believe “American” is worth preserving. Also, Indians watching the Mayflower dock were NOT American.
