Just a day after the premeditated execution of two NYPD officers in New York by a deranged, suicidal psychopath, two more police officers have been shot in America today. In St.Louis, an off-duty officer was shot multiple times and remains in critical condition while in Tarpon Springs, Florida, 45-year-old officer Charles Kondek - a 17-year-veteran and father of 5 children - was shot and killed early Sunday morning.
Florida authorities say a police officer was shot and killed in Tarpon Springs early Sunday.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that police have arrested 23-year-old Marco Antonio Parilla Jr. on suspicion of first-degree murder.
The Tarpon Springs Police Department identified the fallen officer as 45-year-old Charles Kondek, a 17-year veteran of the local police department. Originally from New York, Kondek had previously served on the New York City Police Department for more than five years, authorities said.

Cops aren’t civilians?
As an Army veteran I’m not comfortable with the local cop talking about himself as though he isn’t a civilian, and the rest of us are.
-——there is absolutely no life in those eyes.-——
In Florida he will get the needle....hopefully quickly....
So in a sense he is dead already, he just doesn’t know it....
BLS says Logging is the most dangerous job for 2013, with 91.3 fatalities per 100,000 workers. Policemen, Firemen and EMS are not even in the top 10.

and probably doesn’t care either.
Simply that being a cop is not a particularly dangerous occupation, not even in big cities.
To be sure, it’s probably the occupation most likely to get you killed, with notable exception of drug dealer or cabdriver.
:)
If we want to make heroes out of cops, let’s not do it because their work is so uniquely dangerous, because it’s not.

Wonder if those are listed in the 105?
The Florida killer is a drug dealing frequent flyer.

That’s simply how cops refer to life if you’re not on the force. One of the problems with the job, particularly since the 1970s, is that the police almost have to live a separate life - or be under attack. The “village policeman” model was destroyed by terrorism and attacks long ago.
Most people I know in LE end up socializing or going out with only other people in that world, since everybody else will come up to them (literally, at a party) and either insult them or ask them what was their goriest and most gruesome case.
Fascinating. Thanks for posting.
Sad, no reason for that k9 officer to die like that. Pure incompetence on the human’s part.
Hollow eyes - hollow soul. Needs a hollow point.
LOL
Marco Antonio Parilla Jr. - I wonder what his paperwork looks like.
The tanks are prepositioned already.
Obama will pardon him, and the other cop killers.
First they unionized, then they started seeing themselves as separate, terrorism did not drive them to do that, for one thing they still live among us. They do it themselves and it is becoming a serious problem as they take over our city governments.
More and more they dictate to us what they will do, and how they will do it.
When you see them calling us civilians, call them on it.
