American troops just had their first real battle with Islamic State militants, after the terror group attempted to overrun Ein al-Asad base in Iraq in the middle of the night Sunday, the Kurdish news outlet Shafaq News reports. The U.S. troops absolutely decimated the militants, forcing a quick retreat. The counterattack was conducted in a joint operation with local tribal forces.
The attack occurred at Ein al-Asad base, which currently hosts nearly 100 U.S. military advisers. The U.S. troops engaged the militants in tandem with F-18 fighter jets, who provided air support. The battle lasted approximately two hours after an undisclosed number of militants were killed.

Makes me proud to know that Our people are getting in a little payback.
There’s something about savages being able to just go around committing atrocities unchecked, having their way with innocent folks, that just galls the sh*t out of me.
Nice to see them get a little 5.56 and 7.62 karma.
lol
Well duh? These guys are complete clowns. There are Filipino ROTC Cadets that would cut these guys down in a heartbeat.
Heart-warming, isn’t it?
A little high-velocity schadenfreude.
Brings a tear to me ol’ eyes, Sarge...

I was looking forward to hearing the praises of our military but something happened here.
For any boots and flyboys, “Godspeed.” Millions of us are thinking about you and praying for you. As I used to say to my son on deployment, Semper LuvYa!
The Green Berets disagree with you, one of the purposes of Army Special forces is to reduce war and mass warfare.
Were they wearing boots?
Many experts think that SF could win Vietnam for us, before JFK and then LBJ turned it into a big bloody war.
Hey Sarge!!!

Good article by a Frenchie in Afghanistan...
A French Soldiers View of American Soldiers in Afghanistan.
And yet they killed more GI's in a shorter period of time than the much-vaunted, mainly Pashtun Taliban. It's a real head-scratcher.
Just jumping in for a sec, the original post (1) pointed out the Big Zero said we would not have troops fighting on the ground. . .and the poster went on to underscore the fact we do have troops fighting on the ground. I saw no indication of anything other than pointing out another Zero lie.
Perhaps they would have killed more had they faced up with us and fought us man-to-man...but one will never know - since they used children and women to carry out their attacks, plant their roadside IED’s, and used our sense of value towards LIFE - not DEATH - to kill the number of military and civilian personal security that they did...no, it’s not a head-scratcher...it’s an Islamic insurgency - that’s what they do...cowards using innocence to conduct their attacks.
Just like their self-proclaimed messenger of Allah - they are just “same-same” as Arabs say...
Absolutely.
As long as you want to chime in, I will say I came to this thread blind, with no knowledge of or participation in any prior threads relating to any of the Poster’s in question vis a vis Russia or anything.
I read the OP as negative on US troops fighting ISIS.
Re-reading I still see that, and at best it is ambiguous.
That doesn’t mean it does not also criticize Obama in the way you state.
In fact that is part and parcel of the tone of the post. That this is Obama’s fight (that is wrong to do) that he is trying to hide.
That is how I read it.
If the OP does not think that, a clarification would have been simple.
I can see that.
Cheers.
And this was different from the way the Taliban operated?
