Once again, the streets are electric with anger after a white police officer evades charges for fatally shooting a black man. Sirens screech and wood batons push back marchers protesting from Missouri to New York to Los Angeles. This time the cadence of "No Justice, No Peace" has been replaced with "Hand's Up. Don't Shoot."
But there was another sign raised above the crowd in a recent protest in New York: "Doing Nothing with Saying Nothing. Changes Nothing." The mathematics of this one are clear. Something's gotta give.
A loose network led by African Americans in the film and arts world has emerged from the fog of tear gas to call for a quiet riot in response: a boycott of Black Friday shopping.
Ryan Coogler, who directed the 2013 film about police brutality called "Fruitvale Station," told us he was confounded by the eruptions of "human rights violations committed by public servants."
"There are three ways you can express yourself," Coogler said. "You can vote. You can protest. You can choose how you spend your money that goes to America's corporations that hold a lot of power."(continued)

Looks like a pistol in his belt.
HA!
Black Boycott?
We dare you!
We DOUBLE-DOG dare you!!
Your friends are probably more traditional (I have noticed this among Southern blacks).
Maybe that is the problem with some of the urban black youth: they are misplaced. They are unable to compete in a highly Westernized society. They might do better in rural areas, where they could own farms, work in factories or blue-collar professions, etc. There is no shame in it.
Ditto for some Hispanic. When I suggested this to a friend, a retired Los Angeles public school teacher who tried & failed to educate (illegal) Mexican children, she accused me of racism. "You think all blacks & Hispanics should be mopping floors!" she argued.
I tried to explain that I'm not racist. I have no problem with anyone advancing in this society. But some people (myself included) are better suited for certain environments. We can't blame our shortcomings on others.
Weren’t these the same people mocking Tea Party boycotts?
....or not to steal anything?
Funny pick, but cherck his waistband. Pistol.
Good luck with that!
Effing morons.
Because their EBT cards are all used up.
The sad truth is if all black Americans disappeared tomorrow, the country would experience a tremendous economic boom. Until we deal with the Black Underclass, things will go on as usual.
Beat me to it.
Typical MSM - throwing gas on the flames.
So we’ll call it White Friday now? Fine by me.
It’s the underclass of all colors that is pulling us down. Trash is trash. It is culture, not color. I know plenty of blacks that are fine people. I know some whites that are spam sucking trailer trash. I’d like all the trash taken out, thank you very much.
I already boycott Black Friday shopping anyway.
Can’t think of the last time I shopped on that day.
I don’t like crowds.
If the blacks boycott Black Friday it will make shopping all over the country safer. Go for it!
They labor under the mistaken idea that Black Friday is a money making proposition for mega-stores like Wal Mart and Target.
They lose money on Black Friday!
The less they sell on Black Friday the more $$ they will take in during the holiday season...they have no real competitors in the marketplace.
They have to compete in the circus that is Black Friday to stay ‘in the game’ .... but they don’t enjoy it.
Every shopper that stays home for a Black Friday boycott puts money in the large retailer’s pockets.
The only way to hurt the big retailers is to convince a large number of people to not spend at all or to greatly reduce spending during the holidays...that is not likely.
