ST. LOUIS, Mo. A woman appears to have accidentally fatally shot herself in the head with a gun bought to prepare for possible Ferguson-related unrest, according to sources briefed on the police investigation.
The shooting occurred Friday night in downtown St. Louis, the citys Metropolitan Police Department said, in an area dominated by vacant lots beside a football stadium.
The female victim, identified in a police report as Becca Campbell, 26, was a passenger in a car involved in an auto accident.
Her 33-year-old boyfriend was driving, the sources told CNN.
The boyfriend, who wasnt identified, told police that the couple had bought a gun because of fears of unrest related to the pending grand jury decision on the shooting of Michael Brown, the sources said.
He told investigators that as they drove late Friday night, the victim waved a gun, jokingly saying the couple were ready for Ferguson, the sources said.
He ducked to get out of the way of the gun and accidentally rear-ended another car.
He said the accident caused the gun to go off and she was struck by a bullet in the head, the sources said.
The victim was rushed to a hospital but died.
The investigation is continuing because police want to be sure the story as told by the boyfriend is correct, the sources said.
Police are awaiting gun trace results, as part of the ongoing investigation.
to the gun going off I meant
[[But if youre a complete friggin moron, perhaps you shouldnt.]]
Which is why most people in government don’t personally own guns
A barrel flag is an orange zip tie with a piece of orange duct tape at one end. You put the zip tie into the barrel through the action so that the little orange duct tape flag can be seen sticking out of the action.
Impossible for the gun to be in an unsafe condition with the barrel flag in the gun. It’s AWESOME if you are an Range Safety Officer on an open outdoor gun range, because you can look down a row of shooters and see the flags sticking out of the actions of the guns.
That would give the story more credibility, at least.
Accident? Just wanted to get an early start on the shooting.

Sounds like a metaphor for the whole movement.
“Complete morons” aren’t “rare”. Just look at all the LIBs/DIMs roaming around this society.
You are correct. The more their culture deteriorates into thugdom they just lose more credibility with the majority who are law-abiding.
Not direct witnesses, but possibly indirect or circumstantial witnesses. They might have seen something immediately after that gave some kind of impression, foul or not.
Sad. RIP.
LOL!!!!!
No, her finger pulling the trigger caused the gun to "go off"...
As someone who teaches others to shoot, I always find it ... amusing ... how the media writes as if the firearm has a life of it's one. "It just went off".... "the gun went off"... "the gun fired"... Clearly this young lady was acting stupid, and paid the price for it. Stupidity kills. Now, repeat after me: Finger ON trigger = bang. Finger OFF trigger = No bang. Real simple equation.
” No, her finger pulling the trigger caused the gun to “go off”... “
LOL......funny how that happens.
Darwin Award Winner!!!
Guns don’t “go off”.

Happy Thanksgiving!
or that the firearm even had a “safety”....i.e. Glock
Not really, there are semi-auto hand guns (Glocks for instance) that have the “safety mechanism” built into the trigger. By initially squeezing the trigger the safety is released, further squeezing of the trigger, the gun will fire. If the woman had her finger on the trigger when the car swerved or collided with another, her reaction could have been to tighten her grip on the weapon to keep from dropping it, thus accidentally firing it, thus shooting herself. Speculation on my part? Perhaps but I can see this happening.
It is just very unlikely and there is no explanation as to why the guy swerved and hit the other vehicle.
