On Monday night, the grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri freed Officer Darren Wilson from the possibility of indictment over his shooting of 18-year-old black man Michael Brown. The prosecutor before the grand jury, Robert McCulloch, explained why the indictment had been rejected: the evidence, both physical and eyewitness, supported Wilson’s case that he had acted in self-defense.
McCulloch added pointed criticism of the media that drove the case in the first place, ripping the “insatiable appetite” of social media and “non-stop rumors” driven by it. The initial accounts pushed by social media, McCulloch said, were “filled with speculation and little, if any, solid or accurate evidence.” But he saved his harshest criticism for the media machine itself: “The most significant challenge encountered in this investigation has been the 24-hour news cycle and its insatiable appetite for something, for anything, to talk about, followed closely behind with the non-stop rumors on social media.” McCulloch finished by stating that evidence mattered, and that no one’s life should be decided based on “public outcry or for political expediency.”
The lecture was well-deserved.
Just as the media did during the George Zimmerman trial and in the aftermath of Zimmerman’s shooting of Trayvon Martin, the media attempted to cram the square peg of the Wilson-Brown shooting into the round hole of white police racism. That meant portraying Brown as the latest sainted racial victim; this time, rather than the Trayvon Martin narrative of hoodies, Skittles, and iced tea, the media hit upon the notion that Brown was a “gentle giant.” The Brown family, Al Sharpton, MSNBC, CNN, The Washington Post, and other major media outlets ran with the story that Brown was a “gentle giant” who wouldn’t hurt a fly....

...I doubt they could have raised much of a ruckus without a large number of blacks all ready to rumble...
...do you seriously think blacks were quietly sitting by, just taking it all in, until a few white kids wearing masks got them all riled up, and they just had to start looting and burning...?
On CSPAN they aired some statistics about 2013 arrests in Ferguson
IIRC, 92% of people arrested were black.
Of course they failed to mention that Ferguson is at least 80% black which would account for such a high number
Republican caller mentioned The Wichita Horror and the little prick at the desk cut him off right away because it doesn’t fit the narrative
Meanwhile they let callers yammer on and on about the police who live to torment the poor misunderstood feral population

Michael Brown acted stupidly.
From where I’m sitting, I can see racism is alive and well in America. Black racism, that is. White people have tolerated far too much ignorance and stupidity. Rioting because a cop shoots a black thug who is trying to kill him demonstrates how far Obama has turned back the clock on race relations. I feel sorry for the vast majority of black people who did not fall for the race baitors like Al Sharpton, because they are now tainted as racists as well.
Eric Holder, you want an honest discussion about race in America? You’re not man enough to have such a discussion, because all you really want is to brow beat whitie and blame others for things they had no hand in. By the way, the death of hundreds of Mexicans because of Fast and Furious are on YOUR hands. I hope I live to see you arrested and convicted for THAT manslaughter.
And we now must add a new definition to go with the word “justice” — revenge against people who act appropriately when their life is at risk.
Its entirely possible. I think things stayed relatively calm after the Zimmerman verdict. But in Ferguson, I watched the news and saw more white kids than black kids. I saw white "anarchist" types running around. There were plenty of outsiders there this time, I have no doubt that they WANTED a riot for their own purposes.
That would be enough for most; it seems.

With all the talking heads blathering on about Michael Brown and his family (some “family”, NOT!) what was upsetting to me was that only one person (Rudy Giuliani) bothered to mention Office Wilson, what emotions he was feeling before and after the announcement that he was not to be charged, and what this has done to him as a person and to his career. I have no idea what it must have been like for Officer Wilson to have to shoot Brown but believe it will haunt him for years to come. (I know a police officer that had to shoot someone in self defense who was trying to kill him. That incident caused him enormous emotional problems and he is still not over it.)
Unfortunately few people will be able to follow what has happened to Officer Wilson but I will pray for him as he continues to “fight for his life”. God Speed Officer Wilson.

Watts and New Orleans....it seems this is a signal that it is the Negro’s right to smash and loot. Who pushes that idea more so than Al Sharpton and other Negro “leaders”...maybe they should be made to pay like any other citizen for causing the ‘unrest’....
It’s a real mess. I’ll guarantee you those kids don’t leave high-school with that world outlook. (in most instances)

You are comparing a court standard of “innocent until proven guilty’ to a social standard. That is incorrect. For example, even though many lynchings were not proven in a court of law, we accept the social evidence that lynchings did occur.
Likewise, with Cosby, although his rape was not proven in a court of law, many women have testified to the fact and his handler who dealt with the women has testified to the fact that he used his power as a tool of sex with women. From this we draw our own conclusions about the character of people and events, even though it is not before a court of law. I have concluded that Cosby was probably not as good as his public “dad” image. But, I would not want him imprisoned without a trial.

Who knows, maybe they just didn't want a bunch of people relieving themselves it.
