Boehner: Time For Gop-led Congress To Deal With Immigration
Breitbart ^ | 11/6/14 | Tony Lee

Posted on 11/06/2014 4:07:39 PM PST by jimbo123

On Thursday, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said it is time for a Republican-led Congress to move an immigration bill forward, so long as President Obama doesn't "burn himself" by enacting executive amnesty before the end of the year.

-snip-

Referring to immigration, Boehner also said that "it is time for the Congress of the United States to deal with a very difficult issue in our society." He noted that immigration has become a "political football" over the last ten years and said it is his personal belief that "it's just time to deal with this."

Just as a reminder: John Boehner does not adhere to the Hastert Rule unless he gets huge pressure to do so.

What is the Hastert Rule?

When Dennis Hastert was Speaker, he made a rule to never bring a vote to the House Floor unless it was backed by a majority of Republicans.

Boehner has the power to bring a vote to the House Floor with just 18 ‘squish’ Republicans and let all Democrats vote for it. Then it will pass without a majority of Republicans. Boehner did this on the Republican attempt to defund Obamacare while funding everything else.

The key is to get a Speaker that will follow the Hastert Rule. When Boehner was selected as Speaker he agreed to follow it but later he broke his agreement.

Boehner is not to be trusted.

“The Republicans sweep the midterms and the first thing out of the gate they talk “immigration”? “

They are also talking several trade deals to send more jobs overseas and an arrangement allowing multinational corporations to repatriate overseas profits without paying corporate taxes.

It appears the priority of the GOP is rewarding the Chamber of Commerce. Why care about the voting base. Once again it fell in line and delivered the vote even after being kicked in the teeth.

They should be talking about “Special Prosecutor(s)” and wall construction on the border.

The only way Speaker Boehner could restore any credibility with me is if he resigned and rode himself out of town on a rail.

He has to do something? Like pass new laws? Why, they are on the books now. Just enforce them, passing new laws is not the only part of their job, they are supposed to lead. I can’t understand why they have to make new laws when they don’t enforce the ones they passed before. Either get rid of them or enforce them, don’t hide behind the mantra “We have to do something.” Quislings for sure, and verging on treason. Speaking of, that is not just a word.

If the Republicans pass amnesty, I will never vote for a Republican again, unless, of course, someone can give me a reason for doing so, and that is not really possible. The country would be completely deconstructed.

If amnesty passes with out the border being sealed I will never vote for or give money to another Republican as long as I live.

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...

Bump!

Amen.

My feelings exactly.

I’d like Boehner to answer this question: What’s so wrong with our existing immigration laws that you won’t enforce existing law?

don’t trust them. Even if the bill says the border must be secured first, it won’t be.

Obama overturned existing immigration laws then claimed it’s a mess? HOW STUPID CAN BOEHNER BE? The fix is simple: REINSTATE THE LAWS!!! Simple as that.

Yikes.....wasn't he the preacher in Poltergeist II?

Seriously, close the damn border and DON'T reward lawbreakers by granting them our precious citizenship! Start rounding them up and the rest will self-deport!

I don't intend to surrender, I'll keep doing what I've been doing, which includes not voting for liberal republicans.

But I am curious. What leverage over the GOP leadership do you think the voters have, now that they have been re-elected?

In a pragmatic sense.

Why is now the time?

They’ve sold out the average American worker enough by enacting trade policies that allowed so many jobs to go out of the country. They allow all of the H1B workers to take the good jobs people were supposed to train for after losing their manufacturing jobs. I suppose they’re looking to finish us off by importing millions of other workers and welfare recipients while our labor participation rate is about as low as it has ever been.

It’s traitorous, and we should use them as lamp post and tree decorations if they do it!

We might as well just join the ‘FSA’, get on disability, and get as much of our dammed tax money back as we can! To hell with doing the right thing. Why even try anymore?? ....

Add to that put a tarriff on all Mexican manufactured products to pay for; the cost of building better boarder security, the cost to house all encarcerater criminals and their eventual deportation, plus the cost of caring and educating those that are here on public assistance until they become productive and legal citizens.

Might even bring some manufacturing jobs back to the US.
