GOP Rep. Chris Gibson cruised to reelection Tuesday, derailing the political dreams of wealthy Democratic candidate Sean Eldridge.
Eldridge, the 28-year-old husband of Facebook billionaire and New Republic publisher Chris Hughes, spent nearly $3 million on his quest to win New Yorks Hudson Valley-based 19th District.
Eldridge conceded with Gibson holding a 65 percent to 35 percent lead. Twenty-eight percent of precincts were reporting.
Gibson, a decorated Army veteran, has held the seat since 2011 and managed to win over many Democrats, building a solid lead over Eldridge, who moved to the district only a few years ago. Eldridge tried to run as an experienced job creator after founding a venture capital firm that gave out millions in loans to local companies.
National Republicans barraged Eldridge with attack ads, hitting him for his ties to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and President Barack Obama. They also called him a hypocrite for supporting public campaign financing while pouring millions into his election coffers.
Eldridge was able to fund his own air war and tried to undermine Gibsons image as a moderate, noting he voted to defund Planned Parenthood and to sue Obama.
Proves money aint everything. ;-)
Husband?
Which husband is the “catcher?”
Beat me to it!
Please change every instance of the word “husband” in this article to “catamite.”
GMTA.
No s#!t, I had to re-read that twice, that may be why you beat me to it!
I thought that he got crushed by something and died. I didn’t even know this guy was running, or who the heck he even is.
Something about this story does not read right.
