In 1974, Jack organized, co-financed and produced a series of demos of songs by he and lyricist, Pete Brown, who had produced the lion's share of the Cream catalogue. The project somehow never came to fruition, likely due to Jack's busy schedule and the fact that record companies weren't really interested in investing in a record (of what they assumed would be Cream-like material) when there was no band to go on tour in support of it. This demo featuring Jack's pal, Jeff Beck on slide guitar survives.

Jazz Drummer Tony Williams came to fame at age 17 as a sideman with Jazz/Fusion pioneer Miles Davis. He's considered one of the most important and influential jazz drummers to come to prominence in the 1960s. Williams was an integral participant in the early- to mid-1960s avant-garde movement, playing on such classics as Jackie McLean's One Step Beyond, Grachan Moncur III's Evolution and Some Other Stuff, Sam Rivers's Fuchsia Swing Song, Andrew Hill's Point of Departure and Eric Dolphy's Out to Lunch.
In 1969, he formed The Tony Williams Lifetime, with John McLaughlin on guitar and Larry Young on organ pioneering the fusion movement, a combination of rock, R&B and Jazz. By 1970, the trio expanded to include Jack Bruce. That Jazz icons like Williams and Mahavishnu John McLaughlin not only respected Jack, but brought him into the fold underscores his unlimited versatility and artistry. This track features guitarist Allan Holdsworth, Larry Young and Jack in 1975 from the Lost Wildlife Tapes.

By 1979, Jack had moved from drummer Tony Williams' Lifetime to drummer Cozy Powell's Jazz/Fusion group where he again teamed with Gary Moore (who displays amazing Jeff Beck-like fusion chops) on several Powell projects. Powell was an English drummer and veteran of the Jeff Beck Group, Rainbow and the Michael Schenker Group. Cozy went on to work with Whitesnake (19821985), Emerson, Lake & Powell (19851986), Black Sabbath (19881991 and 19941995) The Brian May Band (19911994 and again in 1998), Yngwie Malmsteen (1997) and the Peter Green Splinter Group (1997-98) among many others. Powell passed away in 1998 following a car accident. At the time of his death he was recording with Peter Green and looking forward to a tour with Brian May (Queen).
Here, Jack and Gary hold their own with frantic fusion by Powell and keyboardist Don Airey.

Sung by Jack's longtime friend, Irish guitar icon Gary Moore who penned the lyrics, I personally consider this one of Jack's most moving melodies and when Jack joins in on the harmonies and takes over with his high tenor on the chorus, I find it aurally stunning. It is Moore's most understated, yet lovely guitar solo consisting of a 4 note phrase repeated only 3 times and reprised on the fade, yet is addictive in it's simplicity. Recorded for the Baker-Bruce-Moore Project's first and only studio album, Around The Next Dream, it was Jack and Gary's brainchild and they completely excluded Ginger Baker from the sessions using instead studio drummer Arran Ahmun and keyboard accompaniment by Tommy Eyre. Ginger just isn't suited for this kind of "in-the-pocket", laid-back carol. Jack plays bass, acoustic guitar and cellos, creating layers of sweeping melody with Gary's peerless power chords, reminiscent of Journey and Van Halen's greatest power ballads.
