Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., says he would be willing to repeal Obamacare with a simple majority if he takes over as majority leader in January, his spokesman told the Washington Examiner on Thursday.
The announcement comes just days before Tuesday's midterm congressional election, in which Republicans have a strong chance of seizing the upper chamber from the Democrats and putting the Kentucky senator in charge.
"Leader McConnell is and has always been committed to the full repeal of Obamacare, and he'll continue to lead efforts to repeal and replace it with patient-centered reforms that enable greater choice at lower costs. He knows it won't be easy, but he also believes that if Republicans are fortunate enough to take back the majority well owe it to the American people to try through votes on full repeal, the bills most onerous provisions, and reconciliation, McConnell spokesman Brian McGuire wrote in an emailed statement.

Verify first, then trust.
No. He had one delivered to him clue by four style.
LOL
Somebody tell me how we get rid of this turncoat.
there must be some way to remove the majority leader.
Isn’t it a hollow promise if Obama is not going to sign the repeal?
More importantly, the GOP should pass the “nuclear option” on Day One of the new Senate and explain that it is “only fair” for the GOP to have benefit of the same rules the Democrats voted for themselves when they had power.
It would be vetoed.
And then the Democrats, with the help of the Media, would then campaign on “Republicans want to take away your healthcare.”
We can’t win for losin’.
Maybe if we had a ‘Pubbie president?
What good is a majority that doesn't represent you?
Another episode of Lucy and Charlie Brown and the Football.”
You bet. There are already at least five with (R)’s behind their name that don’t want it repealed plus as far as I know Cornyn has only stated, as far as I know, that he would support some changes, not its repeal. Unless McConnell gets some Dems to vote with him, he’ll never pull it off.
It empowers conservatives from other states that do represent you.
bump
While it may be possible to pass the legislation with 51 votes, it is highly unlikely that there will be enough votes to over turn the veto.
However, this is usable as a tool. Put the legislation before Obama as part of the spending bill. Let him shut down the government.
Names please.
More like: “this will only hurt for a little bit,” and “of course I’ll respect you in the morning.”
But making this the first action of a Pub Congress would serve notice that they understand what the American people want. Also, they could then begin passing bills that would eliminate parts of the bill, such as the medical device tax and insurance company subsidies.
Repeal Obamacare and Obama.
It makes perfect sense.
Republicans have to show that they are for something. They can't just talk about doing something.
Make Democrats vote against it; make Obama veto it.
Do it enough times and first, people will start believing Republicans again, and second, people will start blaming Democrats. Some Democrats might even side with Republicans.
But we won't know if they never try.

ditto that
let the dem votes be an issue again in 2016
SPOT ON!
Do you see the Pubs separating themselves from the Chamber of Commerce? I don't.
If he survives election, the Republican’s in the senate do NOT vote for him to be majority leader.
If he isn’t reelected case closed, unless the Republican’s don’t win the senate.
...and there are a number of choices that aren’t palatable for a lot of folks. What are your choices as a voter? That is what matters.
Levin was railing on McConnell, who in some recent statements appeared to be back-tracking on his earlier commitment to seek repeal of 0bamacare on a simple majority vote basis - since the Supremes had ruled that 0bamacare was a tax measure and thus required no more than a simple majority vote to repeal, rather than a 60 vote super majority.
