The Undiscovered Conservative Demographic

Whenever one looks at the demographics of the population of America, and how it is changing, it always looks very daunting for conservatives.

I agree. But I'd like to suggest a strategic solution that is very viable.

The Hispanic demographic is ripe for a conservative takeover.

The Hispanic population is a largely-Christian and very religious demographic. They are hard-working, very family-oriented, and tend to be moral. There are, of course, exceptions that disprove this rule, but I am speaking of the big-picture Hispanic population. They tend to have fled from countries that embrace socialism and police-state tactics on the part of the government. In Atlanta, Georgia, I run into a lot of Hispanics, and they are mostly as I describe. They seem to be 'natural conservatives', and if we explain it to them, we may bring them to our side.

These factors lend themselves very well to how we conservatives think. At the moment, the Democrats seem to be winning them over. If we get motivated and directly address them, one-on-one or especially in large groups, we may just capture this group for our own.

It will take a great deal of motivation and a very large effort, but I would like us to consider this as a strategic plan of action. It would require the development of a curriculum that explains America (as it once was) and how we became great. The curriculum would need to explore their country's socialism, and why they lived in the squalor from which they fled. It would need to educate them on the founding of our country, and explain who the founders were -- and how they relate to the current Hispanic situation.

Then, when a curriculum is developed, we would need to organize meetings, perhaps funded by deep-pocket conservative icons, replete with a reasonable give-away to lure them there. We'd need fluent Spanish speakers to explain the curriculum to them.

Obama will issue an Executive Order Amnesty later in 2014, illegally, of course. Imagine, however, if it turned out to be the Liberal, Communist and Democrat Party's undoing.

This is a sound strategic move. We need to start the process.

I haven't been to Mexico in many years. Last time I was, the further south I went the more hammer and sickles I saw. I mean they were painted on everything that didn't move.

Well, at this point anything is worth a try. I think the republic is lost but I keep voting and trying to persuade people because I don’t want to go down without a fight. Anyway, cultures/nations are always on a roller coaster path through history. Maybe it is possible to plant seeds that will grow in later years.

I love the Sessions approach. However, Lawless Obama will invoke Executive Amnesty in a matter of weeks. That's a problem.

It is also an opportunity. The Dems will own amnesty, which will be a disaster for the American worker and the middle class. The majority of the American people are against amnesty. In fact, the highest disapproval is among blacks who have been hurt the worst by immigration, legal and illegal.

The problem is with the GOPe which supports amnesty--14 GOP senators signed on to the Gang of 8 bill--because its corporate paymasters want an inexhaustible supply of cheap, exploitable labor. If we had a shortage of labor, wages would be going up, not down. Immigrants are getting most of the jobs, most of them low paying.

What has been disappointing to me has been the lack of the use of immigration and amnesty against the Dems in these campaigns. All of the Dem senators signed on to the Gang of 8 bill, which triples legal immigration over the next decade to 33 million and doubles guest worker programs (skilled workers) to 1.4 million annually. We have 16 to 20 million Americans unemployed or underemployed. Why the flood of new workers when our labor participation rate is the lowest since 1978? We are creating a time bomb that will explode in our cities causing civil unrest. The Reps should be hanging this on the Dems. It is the real way to appeal to minorities.

You are from Georgia. Why isn't Perdue using this against Nunn?

The total number of working-age (16 to 65) immigrants (legal and illegal) holding a job in Georgia increased by 400,000 from the first quarter of 2000 to the first quarter of 2014, while the number of working-age natives with a job declined by 71,000 over the same time frame.

The fact that all the long-term net gain in employment among the working-age went to immigrants is striking because natives accounted for 54 percent of the increase in the total size of the state's working-age population.

In the first quarter of this year, only 64 percent of working-age natives in the state held a job. As recently as 2000, 74 percent of working-age natives in Georgia were working.

If you go to the link below you will read about our National Republican Party outreach to Hispanics across the country. In Texas, money was provided to open Republican offices in mainly Hispanic areas (if you open an office, they will come).

Your suggestion could be sent to their national office or you could talk to someone on the phone as well as sending material to them, in other words, incorporating your suggested program into the outreach program already under way.

There is certainly more there to work with than some other minority communities whom shall remain nameless.

My experience as well in over 40 years in SoCal. People who equate conservative Mexican culture with conservative American politics are greatly mistaken. It is not the same thing by any means.

It is very common for socially conservative Mexicans to strongly support Democrats because Democrats vote for programs for poor people. Mexicans think that is government’s proper role. A lot think that America in particular owes them.

And that ‘us versus them’ thing is very real. It can be benign or malignant depending upon whether they’re your friends or if they don’t know you. Some of my friends routinely say “you people” or “white people” when they are talking to me. They are teasing and making fun of the different way that we do things, but it does reflect the strong ethnic consciousness among latinos, some who are as white as any anglo.

The only way the pubbies could turn the mexicans would be to tag the democrats as aztec practioners of human sacrifice ruled by homosexual priests in the service of quetzel gods.

It is a huge blind spot that I even see in Hispanic “conservatives.”

Citing the Pew Nativity and Legal Status Summary, from the PewResearch Hispanic Trends Project, 73% of Hispanics in the US are citizens.

A further 11% have legal resident status, and 16% are illegal or other.

Of the 73% that are US citizens, 64% are native born, and 9% are naturalized.

Unfortunately there is a tendency by some “conservatives” to speak in disparaging terms or assume the mere mention of an Hispanic surname means an illegal immigrant.

I only said “some” and cite these statistics as educational and informational.

I’d like to know the percentage of that 73% who gained citizenship through one of the previous amnesties. I’m certain a very large portion of that 64% were born on US soil from those who received amnesty.
