If the Republicans gain control of both houses, they will encounter a dangerous environment. When they got control during the Clinton administration, Clinton modified his behavior and signed bills like Welfare Reform. Clinton's popularity results from his shift to the winds.
Obama has no intentions of shifting. Instead he will go further left and further damage the country. He will blame Republicans for all the damage. Unfortunately, Republicans won't respond. So the question arises - how does this translate for 2016?
In 2016, the LIVs will believe it is safe to vote Democrat again.
Clinton signed the Welfare reform bill the third time it landed on his desk, the first time with a veto-proof majority behind its flight to his office.
He complained that it wasn’t good. After it worked, he took credit for it.
Clinton is far smarter than Obama, whose directions come from a staff while he plays golf.
Of course they’ll play politics with a majority. That’s what they do. The key is in the Republican’s response.
That’s why republicans need to start NOW in getting information out to the public. Make everything public so that Barry will have a harder time spreading his lies.
And IMPEACH the ba$tard!
Then a few weeks later, the Oklahoma City bombing occurred.
If it had not been for the Oklahoma City bombing, Clinton would have been a one term president. But, he knew how to milk a tragedy.
Like what?
I have a feeling they will...by shifting further left to avoid criticism and appear they are working with 0bama on "fixing" the country.
Moreover, a Republican Senate victory will prove to the big goverment loving RINOcrats that they don't need the conservative base, on whom they have declared outright WAR, so you can forget about them becoming more conservative anytime soon -- not that we have any more time to wait.
You think it's crazy to say that Republicans intend to pass the Democrat agenda? Consider that:
The Republican leadership is lowering expectations about what they'll do if they take the Senate in 2014.
John McCain is already promising to restore the filibuster and promising to expedite approval of Obama's nominees I will work very hard to go back to 60 votes, said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who boldly predicts a Republican Senate would process Obamas nominees more rapidly than [Democrats] do today.
And as for the House: John Boehner: Very Few Republicans Will Oppose Me
Oh, and best of all, now Republicans are promising that a Senate takeover will increase the odds of passing immigration reform. Republicans: Immigration reform is more likely to happen if we take the Senate
Well at least the Republicans will repeal Obamacare. Oh wait, they won't.
The only SLIM chance we have to save our country at this point is to demonstrate beyond a doubt that the GOPs "moderate" agenda is doomed to fail at the polls.
Only then will we have a chance of having a true conservative Presidential nominee in 2016, and the utter collapse of Democrat credibility after two more years of their control of the Senate.
It is terrible to consider two more years of Democrat Senate Control, but no less terrible to consider the result of GOPe control.
Clinton also whined that “I have only an hour to give the annual State of the Union address, but Rush Limbaugh has three hours every day to bash me & this administration.”
” I have a feeling they will...by shifting further left to avoid criticism and appear they are working with 0bama on “fixing” the country. “
The FAKE conservative, George will, in his latest column, is seen blubbering and slobbering over Mith MConnell, and talking about “consensus-building”. I could puke!!
I don’t expect much, really. I am hoping that McConnell grows enough balls to stop any SC nomination resulting from that crazy RBG’s dementia forcing her to retire. Stop it, just stop it until adults are in charge. I’d rather see a completely deadlocked SC for two years than one with the Wise Sista Former Welfare Queen Obola will nominate to replace her.
Face one incontrovertible fact. Obama can do pretty much as he damn well pleases unless there are 67 sure votes to impeach in the Senate. Unless there are several Democrats willing to throw him under his own bus nothing can stop him from ruling as a dictator. It may be the one flaw in the Constitution that he found and he is exploiting it for all its worth.
If the Republicans win the Senate. Nothing will change much from what we have right now. The only difference is legislation will die at the president’s desk, rather than Harry Reid’s. 0-Tard will continue to use his “Pen and Phone”, and the next two years will be nearly identical to the previous four. I guess the GOP will have their precious committee chairmanships. I believe they want that more than anything else. That’s how they pay back their big donors. The president won’t have a rubber stamp on Senate confirmations, which could make judicial appointments problematic.
If the Republicans DO take the Senate, I’d expect Justice Ginsburg to retire before the end of the year; or is it already too late for that? I suppose Reid and the Senate Judiciary committee could move on the nomination during the lame duck session, or whenever they want to, before the next Congress is sworn in.
The only way anything will truly change is if the Republicans get enough Senators to override a Veto(VERY unlikely). THEN, things could get interesting.
Forgive me. After following this crap for many years, I’ve grown more than a little cynical. I used to actually care, until I learned that it’s best not to....
So the question arises - how does this translate for 2016?
*************
If Republicans gain control of congress, a constitutional crisis will surely erupt between the legislative and executive branches as Obama recklessly expands his use of executive power. This is going to get really ugly and people will tire of the discord by 2016. This sets the table for Hillary who will cast herself as the Great Healer and promise to return the country to the Clinton prosperity of old.
I don’t think Obmaa cares about a veto. He’ll just work around it. The Constitution means nothing to him and he knows he cannot be impeached.
It all depends -
if we stay vigilant and unite to pressure or encourage them to fight the media and the usurper and his crooks, I think they , as majority, will be more emboldened to stand up against the bullies and show them they are in control and that they want to serve the people the way they should, (more according to the Constitution).
Should more people wake up to the usurper’s goals/actions in destroying America, more people might be wise enough to ignore the usurper’s phony accusation and/or the media’s hysterical misinformation and disinformation. Then the Rep might see that the wind has shifted, thus might be more willing and be braver to go with the wind and stand up against the destroyers of America.
But we need to get the Rep into majority first!
Think positive rather than beating ourselves down before the election results are in!
VOTE! Work to get out the votes. The more votes we have the harder it is for them to steal the election with their voter fraud!
The Senate will be deadlocked 50-50, and the most important Senators will be Alison Grimes, Michelle Nunn, Susan Collins, and Lindsay Graham.
Pretty incredible the pessimism on this thread.
Frankly, I have to ask, what exactly do you expect the GOP to do with a majority?
Impeach Obama? Yeah, that will go over well. That’s going to sure win us voters. And besides, who takes over for him. Another Dem anyway.
Repeal Obamacare? You do realize the president signs bills, right? He would simply VETO. It’s absurd to expect this.
The only good thing from a GOP majority would be stopping Dem court nominees and helping make 2016 a bit easier for us in terms of the Senate.
Otherwise, it’s guaranteed that in 2016 we will lose the Senate. The math makes a win for us virtually IMPOSSIBLE.
1. The GOP needs to make good on any one of the following scandals:
- Fast & Furious
- Benghazi
- IRS
- Veteran’s Administration
2. Impeach
3. Use #1 to convince 5-6 Senate democrats to remove Obama with 67 votes
4. Tie Hillary Clinton to Obama
5. Tie certain senators to Obama
In a year where five or six Republican senators from Blue States are up for re-election and no Democrats in Red States are on the ballot. The GOP could very well lose the Senate again, depending on part on who they nominate for the Presidency.
